Hi all.
I had my left hip replaced last Thursday and was out of hospital Saturday. Cant believe its been a week already!
I am having good n bad days. I keep getting muscle spasms and am now getting them in the groin. I find it really difficulty to get comfy and then stiffen up.
Is this normal and is there any advice you could me please.
Cheers guys xx
Hi Teresa,
After one week you are still in the pain zone.
You were sent home after only two nights. Many of
us were in hospital for four nights, they seem to be
sending people home earlier and earlier. The pain
does ease, and you will get stronger. Just do what you
can, if you are really worried ring your hospital or
doctor. Have lots of rest and be kind to yourself.
Update us on the forum, love Cathie
The first week was the hardest for me, so it all gets easier from here. I found that I tried stopping my pain meds too soon didn't help. Rest as much as you can and keep doing the in bed physio little and often. I tended to rest a while then shift to somewhere else for a while and back again until things settled down.
Good luck
Alan
I had my op on Friday afternoon and was sent home on the Monday, you must of been doing very well I only take the strong pain killers at night but I might change to conformal which I get on better with, also muscle spasms and pain in the groin is perfectly normal, there is a video on u tube of a hip op you will be very surprised at how your leg is pulled around. My own surgeon said the best exercises for the hip is just walking he doesn't believe in physio afterwards. This is my 2nd hip op. My advice walk when you want but definitely rest try not to rush things.
Can't believe you came home after 2 nights.....wow. First week all the bruising comes out, and you're so stiff. Gets easier quickly, but mega tired! Just do bed exercises and rest rest rest. As much as I hate it, we each go at our own pace some quicker than others. It's not a race. We all will get there in the end. I'm on day 17 & in bed today as was up all day yesterday and day before out at hydro and Specialist, so long day. Hence..... Shattered. Keep well be very kind to yourself .
Thankyou so much Cathie. Makes me feel so better just knowing there's people to turn to on here.
Xx
Cheers. I find sitting in a chair harder and keep moving around.
