1 Year abdo pain

So main points including tests and medication:

20 year old male, previously healthy, no major medical history prior to this

abdominal pain started 2016

GP done blood tests and found H Pylori

Triple therapy of antibiotics with no luck

A&E visit - Laproscopic appendisectomy - May 2016

Urinary retention started May 2016 and is intermittent - had catheter > 6 times

Blood in stools intermittent, but when it does occur vast amounts of blood

Have had colonoscopy, ultrasound, X ray, CT scan, stool test, urine tests. blood tests and have a video capsule endoscopy appointment this wednesday - very sceptical about this

Been kicked out so many GPs due to this problem and me feeling they are not doing anything

This pain is very bad currently and no one is really doing anything. Its in my lower abdomen, genital area, pain when urinating and opening bowels, spreading in legs, in lower back.

Any help please?

Why have you listed all these medications.

Pain would probably be a referred pain from the lower abdominal area, and can be related to kidney infection or aortic aneurysm.

The urinary retention started in same month as your appendectomy.

May I just ask, if it started on the day straight after operation?

We had same problem after appendectomy, BUT were told not to use a catheter as long as possible to avoid getting used to it.

That urinary retention was a common side effect after surgery/anaesthesia.

We gave it 4 hours with was hard due to iv fluids building up in bladder,

lot of time on toilet (even just after surgery which is awfully exhausting and stressful), different positions, letting play with watery tissue in hands and dropping into toilet to distract or immitate wee. It finally worked.

One more hour and we would have pleaded for a catheter.

Being stress free when retention happens was our key and giving time. We couldn't stand anyone waiting outside to use toilet, so rather stopped, let them go, and go back again.

So if it was after surgery and catheter given before you could try stressfreely for some hour, it might have triggered the urinary retention.

Just a thought. Could be complete different issue and timing, but sounded like it as both 'May 2016'.

These are all the medications which I was on, not all at the same time of course. The only one which I take now but I will stop becuase it's not working is amitriptyline 10mg

Urinary retention started before surgery. And then has been intermittent. Have had a catheter about 6 or more times.

Aha. You have given yourself hours of time? (Awful if you think you are almost bursting and can't go) We had retention problems before surgery too, (but not as severe as straight after surgery, when it took 4 hours until being successful, and very interrupted successful), it never happened in one go beforehand either (always is interrupted like someone with a prostate hyperplasia), always low 'strength' - I mean low pressure behind it, like a trickling tap, never a full opened tap stream- and never possible, if stressed to be quick. Now we just know to give it time. But after surgery, ooof, that was another story. But you can go now, so that's good. I tried to find something about it, but it's not easy as most neurogenic bladder issues seem to be the other way round? 

Also problem if waiting too  long and getting too full, then it closes off completely and really needs a long time to open a bit, and then a bit again. Do you experience the same? Seems some muscle/nerve issue. But as long as it opens somewhen, we are happy.
