1 Year Post TKR

Can it be, one year since beginning my TKR adventure. Thanks to a gifted surgeon and encouraging/kind forum comments from fellow TKR grads, I have attained a successful outcome. Fully able to enjoy all physical activities, with the exception of those that require running, jumping, or quick lateral movements. Stair climbing especially multiple flights are still challenging but doable. Kneeling will always feel strange, but that's OK. The following were very important with my recovery: proper nutrition and body weight; daily exercise (especially the days, you want to avoid it); sufficient rest/sleep, and, a can do attitude. Never, ever quit. Best wishes and the Lord's blessing to my fellow TRK classmates, on your journey to good health and pain free living.

Hi Ranger Jack,

What a wonderful, uplifting post, whether you were talking about your knee or hip 😁

Continued great success!

Hi rangerjack

You have made my day

I am 23 hours and counting to my operation tomorrow and your post was like a breath of fresh air.

It's so nice to hear how well you are doing and that you were able to share your good news with avery anxious soon to be new hippie

Big big hugs

Susan x

So glad you are doing so well on your THR journey.

Kneeling comes eventually, hopefully without the squeak that I occasionally get when I stand up

Fantastic to hear this! I have my op next Friday and am getting very nervous, not about the op itself but the recovery! So your story is rest to hear!

Great news Ranger Jack, i am 25 months post op, and was really pleased with myself in September Dancing at a family party for over 3 hours and no side effects the next day. Like you kneeling is difficult especially as on the other leg, i have a bad osteo arthritic knee that needs replacing at some stage  but hanging on as only 58!

To all those having their ops in the near future, good luck, remember we all heal at different paces and you will be able to one day say, Wow i 'm glad i had that done, what you will notice is the pain you are in now will be gone. My first words in recovery to my brilliant surgeon was "Thank God, that bloody pains gone! "

look forward to hearing how you all get on and remember your fellow hippies are here for you.

Thanks, Jack! Good to know that the light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train I am working hard one month after THR, your post makes me want to work harder! Namaste - Martha
