10 days post operation for gland and cyst removal

This is just an informative post so that those having this surgery or thinking about surgery has information.

Today marks 10 days post op, eleven if you count the day of surgery. Unless something changes, this will probably be my last post op update.

I still have minor bleeding but I believe that will be over in the next day or so.

The area is still sore but sitting down and walking is getting better/easier.

There is definitely some nerve issues because there will be sharp, random pains at times when I am doing nothing.

Overall, if this surgery does prevent the cyst from returning which can't speak of personally, I would recommend the procedure. Less than two weeks of being uncomfortable/in pain is worth never having to get another one lanced again.

Any questions are welcomed.

This is my first one... freaks me out. I totally thought it was cancer. I'm 52, so I'll have them check for it.  I'm so sorry. I'm not seeing the dr for 2 more weeks.

Mine: Today, marks my 9th day post op including the day of surgery. Bleeding stopped last wednesday. Sitting and walking were getting better. Though I can feel pain when aroused. sad

let's all keep posted to help women with BC. <3 praying for our fast recovery.

They may not do surgery if it's your first cyst. My Dr made me wait 4 years and 9 cysts before he finally agreed to do surgery. Good luck.

I thought I had cancer when I got my first one too. I didn't find this group until a few months ago and prior to that there was very little information.

I totally agree we should keep this going.

I haven't been aroused but I can imagine it would be painful.

Yes because this thing is really traumatic in some sense.

I'm trying to avoid being aroused because the pain is a bit uncomfortable. 😔

The way I'm feeling, I'm don't think I will ever be able to have sex again.

My husband and I also have been discussing having another child and I just have a fear that this area will rip apart during labor.

We're just humans. Let's just take some time for our body to heal. confused

They may just want to automatically remove it because of your age. Just as a safety precautions. I also went specifically to a Gynocology oncologist.

I am about 7 months post op both glands removed. Definitely worth it. Recovery was a long time and I got the same random pains...but they are going away. Sex was painful until about a month ago. Then all of a sudden...the pain went away. There are no hard lumps...and no return of fluid buildup. Yayyy!!!! Now...i only wish the 20 pounds I packed on during this 2 year long process would just disappear too! :-)

Thank you. This gives me hope that I will feel normal again.

I also went to a specialist...he specializes in women's surgery and he had a gyn oncologist scrub in to help. I shopped around for a doctor I felt comfortable with and whom I trusted would do the best job!

You will. Give yourself at least 6 weeks after surgery...more like 10 weeks. Then use some lube. Yes...not the most romantic thing to try and do...but it helps lessen friction on the scar. Sorry to be so graphic...but those were suggestions I could have used! My husband heard 6 weeks...and by golly...he calculated it out to the second! He was most certainly bummed when I needed more time but understood!

Fox and Lori, how long were you bleeding after surgery? How long after we're you able to sit? Or where normal panties? Or blue jeans even?! I know I'm only 3 days post op but I feel lazy and unaccpmplished. Like I've unconvinced everyone. I'm missing my friends wedding today and my boyfriend couldn't be more bummed about it. I just need a little normalsy to come back, to feel like I'm at least making progress. Fox you were right on day 3 and 4 cause last night and this morning.... no good at all. More blood and pain and irritation.

Oh gosh...I don't think I wore jeans for 6 weeks! Lots of cute skirts...and exercise pants! Nothing tight that would cause friction! Sitting...my doctor had me get a hemmorhoid pillow and I sat on that for 6 weeks. Everything started feeling better at around 6 weeks. I was lazy for about 3 months and am still trying to get some routine of exercise back. Lots of ice (bags of frozen corn is what I used) and soaking in warm water (sitz bath thing over the toilet) got me thru those first few weeks. I believe I was bleeding on and off for first 2 weeks. Very normal. As long as you don't develop a large hematoma. You will feel blah for many more days. It's your body trying to get you to slow down to heal itself. Listen to your body. Sleep when u need to! Give yourself a break. It's still surgery...even if u didn't stay over night in the hospital. You sound younger than I...so it will take u less time than it did me. :-)

Oh...and mine was bilateral...I had both removed at one time. So I am not sure how that effected post-op stuff versus just having one removed. :-)

I'm 23, very young for this surgery so I'm told. I have a wedding out in Arizona(I live in NY) on Nov 10th. So I basically have 1 month to be ready to go. But I need to go back to work on Monday or I won't be able to pay my bills for 2 months...then it's Christmas. I also have to wear jeans or khakis to work I don't know how I'm gunna do this. The doctor told me I'd be back to work Monday with no problems..... I see problems hah

Because of your age, as long as you are healthy otherwise, you will bounce back quickly! I am double your age. Give yourself a few weeks. I bet you'd be able to attend that wedding. Make that your goal. I only missed a few days work but I stand all day. (OR nurse)...not much sitting involved and get to wear scrubs, which are pretty much jammies! And the days I worked...that was it. I came home exhausted and slept a lot the following day. That was only a couple weeks. After that, my energy started increasing. As far as Christmas...tell everyone your r giving them the best thing you can...your health!!! ..and because of that...and recent health related expenses and recovery time...you don't have money for expensive gifts this year! Take the time you need these first few weeks to heal (if your job allows). You will be better off in the long run! Ok...well there's my nurse speak...and mom speak! Sorry any of us had to deal with these pesky bartholin gland things! And definitely wish there was more info on recovery!!! If it's any consolation, I feel completely normal now (except for being 20 pounds overweight). I was an avid runner, biker, etc...previous to surgery and am getting back to that again! Yayyy!!! In fact...just heading to the gym/pool. I will try to think of my first few days out of surgery and think of any tips. I know I spent a lot of time laying on my back on my bed. Wished I had a TV in my room! I watched every episode of Nurse Jackie. Made me feel better about my life for sure!!! :-)

Thank you so much Lori! I'm just an emotional reck about it all. I've needed my mom and have had her with me for 2 days. Now haven't in 24hrs hah so that actually helps. Im a manager at JoAnn fabrics with a great boss! She's very understanding. I al ways put others before me so this is obviously double the difficulty worrying about others. I try to focus on my crafts even but that's been difficult as well. I've had these barotholin cysts for only a year but have had 8. 5 surgeries- one done in office and wide awake for it-terrified even after. 3 natural pops. Each one out of work like a week depending though. I had to demote myself at work to part time because of it.

Do the cysts just keep coming back ? Why is this? What does dr. Say?
