10 weeks in - not sure what to do

I’ve been on citalopram for 10 weeks now after being told I have GAD. It started with a couple of panic attacks back in November and inside body shaking.

I’ve not had panic attacks for a while now but I still feel on edge quite often like I feel one coming? I also feel down and getting negative thoughts with strange dreams, also feeling very tired in the morning.

I’ve had some good days where I felt normal but out of 10 weeks I thought it’d be more than just a few good days.. not sure what I should do? Is this normal during treatment?

Hi Ben

Im also on Citalopram but only just started it, I too am on it for anxiety...

I believe what you are experiencing is normal. You dont write what dose you are on, but I have read many other peoples account of raising their dose and feeling so much better.. perhaps this can be an option.

I spoke to my pharmacist today about Citalopram and she said antidepressants take time to work or to atleast see the results...over 3 to 4 months..

I too get rather tired on this tablet, quite blah but I’ll take the blah over the anxiety any day...

hang on in there...

that is the ssri working now

Thanks for the reply Raj,

I am on 20mg, I’m 21 years old.. hoping a few more weeks will give it some more time!

Hey Marsh,

I hope so... been thinking it for what seems forever

Its frustrating when all you want is to be better

i was on this medication for 10 yrs.I started on 10 mgs ,went onto 20 mgs and then too 40 mgs. During this 10 yrs i went up and down. This was due too my body accepting this medication, even though i was taking it for a long time,my body would still give me side effects,

the reason you are not getting panic attacks is because the ssri is starting too build up in your system ,so the medication is now starting too work now ,so keep on taking it .

Thank you Marsh, this certainly gives me hope!
