Hello Sassi...I had to have a complete hysterectomy at age 33, I am now 61. My husband asked my GYN how long I would have to be on my HRT, and my doctor told him, “pretty much forever.” Well, he was right! He is retired now, and he was the only Doctor I ever really trusted, I went to him from the time I was 17, until I was 50, then to his son until we moved away.
January of this year, my GP thought I should go off of them. Well, I tried that, and what hell that was. I decided...with the help of one of one of the really nice women on here, and I am so glad I did, to go back on them. It has been about 2 months now, and Thank Heaven’s I did! I feel so much better! I have also found several women in their 80’s that refuse to go off, as they too tried, and went back on them. As for me, I will not be going off of them for a very long time...if ever! I do not want to go through that hell again! But, I had to have everything removed due to illness, so I was only on one pill called Premarin here in the U.S., since I had nothing left, there is no need for progesterone.
My new insurance does not cover Premarin, so the doctor changed me over to Estradiol 0.5 mg, and it is the first time in all these years I have ever made a change. I was afraid to change, that is why I went ahead and gave stopping a try. One of the women here takes it, and said it is a good one. I don’t often react well to meds, but I am doing very well on it. I am so thankful for her input!
Someone posted something about migraines, and they could not take hormones...let me tell you, I have suffered from migraines since I was a teenager, and most of my life. Awful ones! I see a Neurologist for this, and am on meds that work wonderful, and do not interferer with my hormones, and do not get migraines at all from them. So, there are ways around hormone meds with other meds for migraines...no need to suffer! At this point...I don’t care, just give me the pill and make it go away! I am too old to mess with this anymore! LOL
I wish you good luck!!
