Hi ladies. I'm now 11 days post surgery for anterior & posterior prolapse repair plus perineum reconstruction. I feel better in myself now thank goodness, though still getting very tired, but I'm concerned that the pain & discomfort whilst sitting is actually getting worse. I'm not too bad when lying, standing or walking, but sitting is excruciating. I do use coccyx cushions in every chair but even they don't seem to be helping. I have halved the painkillers today so wonder if that's a bit premature but I really don't like to keep taking them. Any advice would be appreciated please - does this sound normal progress? Thanks.
My advice is avoid sitting as much as possible . Your body telling you to lay down . I had perineum repair took weeks to be comfortable sitting . I took short walks round the house and lay down as much as possible those first 3-4 weeks . Keep on top of ibuprofen and pain relief as soon as it's due take it . Better to manage pain than let it kick in c
Thank you for your reply. It all makes sense, but I suppose I felt I really should be getting MORE comfortable as the days pass not less! I think maybe I'm too impatient! Paracetamol was making me feel sick so I'm just taking Ibuprofen now, though I had reduced the dose today. Maybe I'll up it again tomorrow. Thanks again for advice.Carol
Hi, I am 6 weeks post anterior and perineal repair. My perineal pain got worse at about 2 weeks and worse still at 3. Shooting, stabbing pain in groin. I had stopped painkillers but had to restart and added codeine. I went to doctor who thought I had an abscess. Two different antibiotics and it cleared quickly. Perineum scar is still very hard but not painful just a bit sore. Have been advised to massage it. If pain is bad maybe a trip to GP? Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks so much for your reply-all info is such a help when you really don't know what to expect. A friend told me to measure my progress in weeks rather than days-I think she was right-I DO feel better than this time last week-just not as good as I'd hoped! I've just doubled my short walk today so feeling exhausted now! Do hope you continue with a good recovery.x
