My boss (77yrs old ) showed me his gallbladder test of 2004 with a gallstone of 2.1 cm by 1.8 long and he never had a problem with it . I was shocked and told him that most people with that result will be in excruciating pain and have the GB removed very quickly .
how is this possible ?
Hi pattino
I have a 13mm gallstone, which, according to my doc, is 'just lying there doing nothing'.
Previously I had a lot of sludge which caused me great pain until it cleared. The pain is caused mostly by stones being caught in the bile ducts.
The secret to keeping your GB even with a stone is to keep the bile flowing. Low fat is the cause of stones, so fat from the right source, such as avocados, olive oil and coconut oil, to name a few is healthy. I have been told to avoid sugar, difficult, and alcohol, which I don't, and have been able to keep my GB against all docs warnings. One day, I suppose, it will have to come out, but you will be surprised at the number of people walking around with gallstones who are unaware of them. The LCHF diet is often recommended and a '1950s' diet with no processed rubbish is also recommended.
My understanding is that several people have gallstones but do not know they have them because they do not have any symptoms. Even if you know you have them if you do not have symptoms why go through surgery?
Hospitals and doctors and nurses are busy enough with people who do have symptoms without dealing with those who do not have any.
This is simply my own opinion and may not answer your question.
