Hi all
Quick question, I have ceramic on ceramic, no cement and intermittently I can feel a kind of clicking and clunking in my hip when I walk and do exercises. This has been present since the op but is more noticeable since I've been more mobile.
This does not hurt but feels strange, does this ring any bells with anyone else?
Thanks
Paula
I had RthR 11 months ago Ceramic +ceramic but cemented
I had the same clunky feeling and was told its the scars in the tendons sliding over each other get a bit stuck then release it was described to me.
It is getting less but it is still there a little bit

Yes Paula me too and I am well cemented in due to state of bones. No longer have it but now got groin pain. Just entered week 8 with check up Tuesday
Yes Paula, I am ceramic with no cement and it felt like grinding at first, then every now and then a clunk or two. Was really worried at first but after reading some other posts, seems its fairly normal to feel this.

Nadine
Hi Paula, I too had this clunking in my hip. I had it for the first 3 weeks. I am now 4 weeks pos left THR. I saw my consultant about it early on and he said that it was due to my muscles adapting to the implant and would settle when they get stronger. Its weird because every day the clunking got quieter and now i cant feel it. I hope you have something similar. But everyone is different so I would say if you are worried see your consultant to be safe. I hope this helps. Good luck with your recovery :-)
Kind regards
Mike
Hi Paula
I had clunking when I walked for the first 2 or so weeks, it just felt like the head of the prosthesis was slipping back into socket! I'm 6 wks now and not sure exactly when it stopped but certainly not feeling it now. Surgeon said it was ok and will settle

Hi everyone. I have a new ceramic joint ( with cement and glue) and it clunks slightly (no pain). Very pleased to read all your comments, as it saves a lot of worry. Thank you.
Thank you everyone, I feel a bit better about the strange noises now!
