I had this surgery done almost one year ago. I have no energery, I don’t care about doing anything except laying in bed. I have dumping episodes that happens when I don’t go for a couple of days then it’s Katie bar the door. It’s very tramatic and there have been times I havent made it. I am depressed and I take clexa for that. Is anyone else want to sleep there life away?

My best friend had the same procedure last year. All I can say is that it was very hard. She had a colostomy bag for a year afterwards. It was hard but, she pulled through. Had the bag removed and is doing just fine now. It just takes time. You will be fine. I know she really had to watch her diet afterwards. Certain foods would upset things. You will do well though in time. Hopefully the worst is over and now all you have to worry about is your recovery. Stay strong!!! <3
Oh Connie, I am so very sorry, that condition most times is hereditary isn’t it. A friend of mine had that and I think it skips a generation, if I’m not wrong, her grandma on her dad side had it but her dad and his siblings did not. Have you made sure with your specialist that you’re absorbing the nutrition that you eat? have you also been to a natural path, a natural path may be very beneficial here along with your specialist. it’s funny you say that because I was thinking as I changed the bedding today, I can’t wait to go to bed tonight. it is a challenging time, but you having such a serious surgery on top of this, I’m very sorry. I would make sure that you don’t have leaky gut or any type of disorder whete you are not getting your nutrients/minerals properly. my heart goes out to you girl …BIG HUGS!
Hiya Connie
I had my colon removed in 2013 due to acute ulcerative colitis which was caused by thyroid disease. My dad had bowel cancer and my sister has diverticulitis so it seems we have something genetic in my family! I have a permanent illeostomy as they couldn’t get the disease under control and I was at deaths door. My dad had a bowel resection too and it can be really hard to get things balanced again. A year sounds a long time for recovery but it took me that long too. Your colon did such an important job taking nutrients out of food, that it’s super common after bowel surgery to lack in vitamins. I get all of my bloods done every 6 months, so it might be worth you getting things checked. If you’re dehydrated or not eating, really quickly you can feel rough without that bit of bowel and dehydration makes me feel exactly as you describe. If it helps, I take multi vitamins, I use rehydration sachets, eat regularly, drink about 2.5 litres (you need more without a full colon), but also try to get some fresh air and a bit of exercise. Please don’t be embarrassed by not making it to the loo always, if I had a pound for everyone that happened to me I’d be rich! But pop to your doctors and get some advice. I know it’s really really hard but it will get better I promise you. Please DM if you think I can help but look after yourself xxx
