I was recently told that my left kidney is functioning at 12% and has essentially failed. The past 48 hours the pain has been so bad that my back feels like it's been hunched over for hours and like someone is stabbing me in my rib cage. Why am I getting more pain that normal. No matter how many hot water bottles and how much solpadol it takes I'm still in agony. Help!!!
Hello Charlotte,
Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. If you are attending your local renal unit you could phone them for advice as they are best placed to help. They may be able to fit you in for an emergency appointment. Mylocal unit is very good when I phone. You sholud not leave it if you are in pain.
Charlotte, you should immediately contact whoever has informed you that your left kidney is functioning at 12% and tell them how much pain you are experiencing. They should investigate the cause of the pain and advise on the treatment and the way forward. Meanwhile, hopefully your right kidney is functioning normally, and you will be fine.
hi,not too clued up as new to this myself but have you been prescribed solpadol?
just asking as i had horrific pain to the point it would make me vomit, like a cold knife just below my rib. i was informed that certain painkillers make it worse because of the function of the kidney being depleted,ie you are putting more pressure on your kidney to work with certain chemicals entering your body.
