12 weeks post op and struggling

I had open abdominal myomectomy 12 weeks ago (I have a 8inch horizontal c section incision) and had minimal bruising which went away after 6 weeks leaving a neat very red incision that healed well. I went back to work after 8 weeks to a full time desk job and for the past few weeks I have developed reddish purple bruising around the incision. It's tender and I ache internally feeling tighter and worse by the end of the day now. I just wonder if anyone else has experience of this as thinking about contacting my gyne as I'm worried.

I would advise getting your doctor to check it if you’re worried. Hopefully they will say it’s nothing to worry about but best to check.

Hi Emma89,

Sorry I haven't had my surgery yet, so I have got any advice of experience when it comes to the scar and the pain yet, but as you have had the abdominal myomectomy which im due to have in a months time I just wanted to know if you could give me some insight into your operation and recovery and how bad the pain etc was (be as brutal as you need).

Ive spoken to some people who have said get the U shaped pillows for when you go home etc, some that have said they have had to stay in hospital for 7days etc neutral so its just a bit scary and the not knowing that's killing me. How long did you have to stay in hospital for as well?

Sorry for the 21 questions.

hope you can help and I hope you get the answers you need! x

I stayed in hospital for 3 days post op. The moment I woke up I knee I was hurting but I was heavily medicated and it makes you care less. I was mostly in pain when I had to move at all or adjust myself in the bed. They took out my catheter the not ing after my operation and I was made to get out of bed to the toilet within 24hrs of the operation... that was the worst bit for me as i felt sick exhuasted pained and dizzy when i first got up. My bladder wouldn't go when I made it to the bathroom and the nurse kindly ran the tap which made everything instantly work again (sweet relief) if you are going to the toilet a rolled up towel is a blessing to support your stomach. I highly recommend this and used this method for 2 weeks. I suggest you take every medication you are given when you are supposed to as if you miss the medication or take it late you soon feel the pain creeping up on you and it's a horrible pain. I feel like overall my pain management was great and I forgot once and knew about it. Take some stool softener with you when you go in and have these to hand when you get home too as the pain relief messes your bowels up. My husband drove me home and I had a rolled up blanket between my seatbelt and my stomach so don't waste money on special pillows. I held onto the handle above the door the whole way home and used my arm strength to lift my bottom off the seat (otherwise you will feel every little bump and jolt) and prevent me from crying out. It sounds terrible but it's manageable as long as you rest alot, take very small walks as soon as you can start and manage your pain medication. I wish you all the luck for your op. Since posting my original post my scar has calmed down and I think it was my nerve endings my knitting together causing them to fire off a bit
