I am 12 weeks post op and up to middle of last week felt great, since then I feel like i have been acheing all over sore lower back, shoulders and twinges going down thigh, anyone else out there had this?
I am exactly the same , 16 weeks this week and every joint and muscle seems to be aching . Don't know why I go to bed as it still aches . Think it's all other parts reminding me they are there as hip has had all the attention !
hope having accupuncture works ?
it does make me feel down as I thought I would be ok now . Hip is great tho so must be grateful for that .
Thanks for replying Mary, must be the rest of the body telling us how much strain we have put on it, glad I'm not alone though was imagining all sorts
Hello achey hippies. Had eight weeks check and was told my body would experience new things as the ninety degrees rule lifted. Your muscles have to learn new things. To begin with I thought I had been hit by a bus
You are never alone with us Hippies to talk to but it feels like it sometimes
x
yes ann, thats how I feel, was going to try a game of golf this week but I really don't feel like doing anything, must get motovated though and keep going
Hi Linda
I was exactly the same and was due to go back to work, which I did then hurt my back!! We get that magical number of 12 weeks in our heads and think yes I'm there and I should be fine. My surgery and recovery all went to plan with no hiccups and I still managed to hurt my back with thinking I could do more than I actually could. Went back to work then ended up being off for another 4 weeks😳 anyway I'm now nearly 8 months post op and I'm back to doing things I did before the op walking and riding my pushbike but only just and I still have the odd twinge and achy day, Also on my last visit to the consultant I complained about not having the same stamina as before he told me it would take between 12 and 18 months to get back to how I was before obviously minus the pain which is a massive bonus.
Anyway Linda hope this puts your mind at ease a little, I take it your in the UK as I am and the aftercare physio etc isn't like our friends in the U.S. Canada and Australia as this is private healthcare. So I think with all their intervention they seem to rally round quicker than us UK guys😐 but don't dispare it will just hit you one day that you can get out of a chair without the usual in oump and moan LOL. And you will remark on it. So keep being positive and expect the odd ache and unusual twinges for now as they are just letting you know your body is still repairing itself
Hope this makes you feel a little better,
Kinds regards Linda
Vicki x😀

Hi Linda.
Im 14 wks post op and was doing great up to last Monday when I woke up with what feels like a pulled muscle in my lower back, the pain from which is worse than my hip ever was..I've had to start using my sock aid again, and can't tie my shoe laces.
Its really knocked me back as I was doing so well..if it doesn't improve in a few more days I'll have to pay my GP a visit.
Hopefully it will go as soon as lit appeared.
Im thinking it could be inflammation brought on by a chest infection I picked up..hope I'm right.
Hope you improve soon.
Hi Vicki,
Many thanks for your reply, very encouraging when you hear other folks stories, I am in Scotland so the weather doesn't help either!!! I am back at work full time now and mangaging ok, I have a horse as well can't wait to get back in the saddle but that will be 6 months before I am allowed to do that. glad my twinges are normal. thanks x
thats a shame you can't really feel the benefit of the new hip as you are waiting for futher surgery, hope you don't have to wait too long
seems to be normal then all these aches and pains I have not tied my shoe laces as yet, not sure how to bend to do this, got discharged from hospital with a sheet of paper with a few exercises on and that was it, not been advised on snyhting else so I'm a bit wary of bending over & scared!!
Snap , I am 16 weeks this week and at about 14 the muscles in my back became very painful and I feel awful . Hope it will go soon !
good luck
I hope so too, want to get my life back anf do things I have not done in a long long time. Good luck to everyone and thanks for all the replies its made me feel a lot better knowing I am not alone
Hi Linda I now able to do shoelaces week 9 but it is not easy
Amazing ... just when I started to worry about the spasms in my lower back, this topic is posted ... thank you - I am 9 weeks post op and just had my follow up visit - hardware in place and healing nicely .. can drive my car, sleep on both sides and 90* rule lifted ... however ..... spasms in my lower back makes me nauseated and pain in my butt .... of course .... getting in and out of the tiny, low seat of my car as well as driving , different muscles are being used ... I am just happy that I am independent and can do things for my self again ! now, what can I do about these spasms?
Hi Linda, yes exactly the same. I am 13 weeks and get lower back ache and stiffness down thighs. I started taking naproxen again (doc said it was ok and to remember it takes a good year for everything to settle) and it helped. Get stiff when getting up after sitting but eases when get going. I guess it's part of the process. Helps knowing I am not alone. We will all get there, I am sure
Hi Renee,
another medication, I know, but I take Buscopan as I also suffer from spasms in my back, due to a long term chronic back problem. If the spasms continue, it may be worth seeing your G.P?
Take care😃😃😃
Hi Linda good to read this thread, I'm 16 weeks and had a good recovery, I am back at work full time again but I get very tired by the end of each day and especially by the end of the week. I sleep for at least 8 hrs and still wake up tired. I get stiff if I've been sitting for a while and ache a bit and get slower after walking for a while. I find I can walk better in soft ground when I go out at the weekends but on the hard path and cobbles I can't walk as far before walking gets more difficult. I definitely don't have the stamina I had before, but hopefully that will improve over the next 6-8 months. At home it doesn't hurt as much and not so tired but I think that's because I can sit down when I like and not so far to walk. I had no physio either and I can see the muscle at the top of my operated leg needs to be built up,it looks fat and my unoperated leg isn't lol ! I think as we are told we can do most things we and friends and family think we can but actually we are still in recovery. However I am so pleased I am independent again and can do whatever I want ... Eventually lol ! I am enjoying life.
I still have naproxen i will try that thanks
