12 y/o son having trouble peeing

Last year my son complained to me that he was having trouble peeing. he said his stream would be a trickle and that it would take a while to come out, usually leaking a lot in his pants. I took him to our physician to get him looked at as i thought it was a UTI. According to the doctor, it wasn’t, as he showed no other usual indications of a UTI or other kind of infection. He said he couldnt understand the cause of the issue and recommended we wait to see if things clear up.

Well its just gotten worse. I tried to figure out what was wrong on my own. What I noticed was that his penis is unusually very long. He can “force” more pee out by squeezing his penis and pulling along the length, but it only helps somewhat. Could his length be an issue ? According to him its gotten worse as hes started going through puberty and his penis grew longer. I called up our physician again and he said its possible he has a tight urethra from genital growth but he has no way of telling.

is there any way to alleviate this issue?

Hello Jessica, I take it you are in the States. Are you able to get to any specialist you need to, or are you limited? I would get this sorted once and for all and this means seeing a specialist who can deal effectively with this. So, there are such specialist as a Pediatric Urologist dealing with this kind of issue in children under 16 who have issues voiding urine.
I did a quick search and I found some very basic information on Pediatric Urologist in the States - as I cannot post external web sites on here this is the search term to use:

Often really simple things can make some or considerable difference: so think about the amount of liquids, and in particular water that your son is drinking everyday - if he is entering puberty he should be getting around 4 & 1/2 US Pints to drink per day, and perhaps even more if you are in a really hot climate.
