My daughter injured her knee 3 years ago in May. The first consultant would not believe that there was anything wrong with her as he had" never seen ACL in a child" despite several doctors saying they thought that was what was wrong. Eventually in Dec 2012 she was operated on. Some ligament was shaved off. We are now in 2015 almost two and a half years after the op and she is still having major probs. Why will no one take her seriously?
It's very sad to hear of a child with such problems, which must make ordinary childhood things like running and jumping difficult or impossible. . .just keep on and on at the doctors until they look at the injury extensively and see if there is anything that can be done. Obviously, a total knee replacement isn't really an option for a twelve year old . . . lI do hop you get some solutions soon.
Do you have a children's or pediatric hospital nearby.? Finding a pediatric orthopedic Dr would be my 1st pursuit. Those who are what I consider as double specialists can zero in on things so much faster than the one size fits all type guy. I live in in a metro area and we have a great hospital like that. One of my grandsons if type I diabetic and another is mild touretts syndrome. That hospital was quick to diagnose and spectacular on the treatment. Maybe a google search could help. Good luck
What about a sports physician ?
