Hey! I've not been on this site for a while since I've been back to work. It's been quite a frustrating few weeks to be honest. My day will go as follows: I'll wake up and being on my feet is no issue at all, but as the day progresses I have a bit more off a limp when I walk; the limp then leads to my ankle aching as well as pain in my other leg. The toe I had operated on is still quite stiff and this stiffness becomes worse during the day, everyday. It is so difficult for me as I work on my feet. I massage my foot every night. Does anyone else have any tips? I can't afford to be off work any longer, but I'm not sure whether full time work - being on my feet full time - is undoing all the progress I made recovering..
Hi I am about 16 weeks post op. I wear sketchers all day every day. Very light like walking on air. Got a black pair so not too gawdy! I a still recovering like you and have good days and not so good.i had a 6 week phased return that work pressured me to increase and increase so that fell by the wayside to a degree. I bought a pair of furry boots like a wheat bag and they go in microwave and are absolutely wonderful! I use them nearly every night. I also have a foot spa and that helps me too. I mean what I say so hope you could use some of these tips too! Btw, I have since left work for other reasons and am soooo glad! I felt a distinct air of disapproval in my return, my boss once said in not so many words I chose the operation! Good luck! Xx
One exercise that I have found to be really helpful with regards to aching feet is to role a ball such as a tennis ball under your foot for a couple of minutes. This really loosens up the foot. It also helps with swelling too. I have found that it helps with making ankle more flexible which helps with walking. Hope that you find this helpful.
Sorry to hear you're having issues. I found an exercise that really helped strengthen my ankle was to have my foot out in front of me and then to rotate the toes down and under the foot ... If that makes sense ... as if it's on its side. Also rotate the ankle and also flex the foot up and down like the exercises suggested when flying. I really did find a combination of these 3 exercises really did make a difference. Just remember rest and don't try walking too fast to quickly, believe me it does get better😀
