No pain just a bit itchy occasionally just wondering when or if that area will feel normal

Hello Valerie, I had my right THR last July so almost 10mths now and I had numbness for around 4mths and still get some soreness if I work the hip too much, ie walking above 4miles but as I can walk this distance without the pain I used to get before the op so it will take time to fully heal. We all heal at different rates, I'm almost 66 so its a bit difficult to predict - are you using a lotion over the scar area (bio-oil) I was told to use this by my physio lady early on and still do a daily rub after morning shower to make the area supple - it does help.

Same here valerie - 8 weeks post op - I feel the scar - itching too and sometimes sore to a point that my undies are bothering me ... was not like this before - 

the numbness is odd, isn't it ? I have a scar from a wound which still feels numb when I touch it after 60 years !!!!  have a good night ...

I also am 13 wks post thr. I asked about the numbness when I went for my 6 wks Check up and was told it would take upto two years to go back to normal.

until 3 weeks ago the scar and surrounding area use to feel hot when I massage it with bio oil, the hotness is no longer there but the area is still numb.

Thanks all for replies - Arthur and m11010 I am using oils twice daily and the skin is supple and seems nicely healed just does feel odd

Renee if I am still here in 60 years I won't mind a numb scar!
