13 year old needs ankle reconstruction does she need a Pediatric Orthopedic surgeon?

Rupture of ATFL and 2 other ligaments also damaged cartilage of Talus. Im so unsure of which specialist to go to. We are in South Australia.

Wow, what a decision. I would think that a pediatric ortho would not have the experience since it would be rare that a child would need this surgery. Good luck to you and the teen. My daughter is 13 and a soccer player and if she needed surgery I would pick the surgeon with the most experience.

Without any question you need the VERY BEST ORTHOPEDIAC SURGEON. Sorry for shouting but please know that ankle surgery is not easy and there is lots that can go wrong .

I had this same injury/surgery when I was 15...5years ago.  I’m from the US, and we’re big into college football here and my mom took me to the Orthopedic Team surgeon for the Mississippi State University Football team and he did my surgery. One of the best in my state and I haven’t/didn’t have any problems at all. Good luck to you and her!
