14 days off Sertraline and counting...

Having major withdrawal symptoms from tapering off 50mg initial dose for 10 months, to 25mg over 4 weeks and last 2 weeks with nothing.... Initially diagnosed with Anxiety, I found amazing relief with this wonderful drug, minimal side affects upon starting and my Anxiety had reduced to nothing. I am now depressed, gaining incredible weight, and crying over the stupidest things... Anxiety has crept back, however not to the intensity that was originally there... I just want to know is there a light at the end of the tunnel? My family keep telling me to go back on them... However I'm convinced this is the effects of the serotonin withdrawal leaving me an emotional wreck... Does anyone have good positive quitting stories???

These are withdrawal symptoms not a relapse, you have tapered way too quickly. I have just come off having been on 50 mg for two years. I followed the 10% tapering method advised on this site. It is a very slow process and took me six months but I've done it safely and have not had any withdrawal symptoms.

please look carefully on this site, the advice will be to reinstate to your last dose until you stabilise ( prob 2-4 weeks) once you are feeling ok again then you can start the 10% monthly tapering method. This will reduce any lasting damage and ensure you come off them safely

good luck x

Here is the link you will see many of us had a challenging time!

Many thanks Maureen,

Wonderful site however, all the threads are disjointed, so didn't realise there was this option... I am with open mind, and understand that although chemical induced initially, I have to withdraw... Have read some positive experiences and hoping I'm one of the people that due to being on sertraline short term, it will be a rough ride to come off... Was wondering has anyone tried 5htp? As an alternative remedy to help reduce symptoms? Being as I have encountered 2 weeks off, not all days have been horrific... With this in mind and a positive mindset... I'm hoping to go the home run, but not ashamed to admit after 5-8 weeks will try tritation method if struggling after this point. Many thanks for your time and advice girls :D
