Some encouragement for people recovering from thr I had my hip replacement in August 2014 and can't believe the difference it has made to my quality of life.
I now forget all about my new hip as I rush round my supermarket after carrying out an 8 hour physical shift at work.
And best of all I sleep soundly all night with no pain!!! amazing.
Some do very well and some have problems...it's 4 yrs this month for me with Anterior and I "suffer" with nasty Femoral Nerve Damage and messy IT band damge....and just a lot of a mess from shorter leg outcome.......
No groin pain but lots of other new stuff and I take some pain meds and do my best with the nerve burning issue.
Congratulations Jackie, It's good to have great news when so many of us are post THR and still suffering. It's wonderful to hear, wish I was in the same situation, I can't imagine ever being able to sleep and wake up with no pain.
But don't forget too much about your new hip, it needs treating more gently than a normal hip. xx
Wow! that's amazing, well done. I made a good recovery after my first hip replacement but after the second (11 weeks later) I got quite depressed. However, since then (until July this year) I had a new lease of life and never gave my hips a thought. Even though some people do have problems I still think it's one of the most fantastic surgical breakthroughs ever and I bless the surgeons who carry it out. Glad you are sleeping well too - I'm looking forward to sleeping on my side again in about two weeks's time when I will be 6 weeks' post revision.
Even though you feel great still listen to your body and perhaps don't go ice skating for a while!!!! All the best
