16 and worried I might get psychosis

Hello, 5 weeks ago I was diagnosed with panic disorder and was put on medication I have started to feel like I've been getting better and I'm happy about that, I went to my appointment with my psychologist today and I told her that some of my friends drink and smoke pot, and she said that i must avoid both at all costs on my medication and told me that if I had pot I'd definitely go psychotic, but the problem is that I've been smoking pot for the past week and a half now I'm worried and don't want to touch it again, I have been smoking it as helping with my anxiety, I just want to know is this a real threat and now I'm extremely worried

It varies. Truely some have their first entry into panic attacks with it. I have seen that firsthand. It dependeds on what it does to you. Some it calms but many it flips out. Why risk it? Not worth it at all.

If you are on meds you cant use so stop now. Theres drug interactions involved. Did you know is you use a benzo you can not ever drink grapefruit juice. Potent interaction. So imagine using weed with a anti anxiety drug. Dont do that anymore. Tell the dr. The truth because yhays really irresponsible on your part. If it did nothing to you so far. You are fine. But no more of it . No more now. Follow the drs rules if you want anything to improve.

Thank you I'll do so

Would you think that it could cause psychosis?

In some people yes. It has not in you and that is great. Now dont do it anymore and forget about it.

it would have occured already anyway and yes you'd notice. Noway not too. But it didnt thankfully

I think when you're prone to anxieties you have to be extra careful with what you put in your body. While marijuana seems safe because it's natural it still effects the brain. Some people respond wonderfully to it and others don't. But if you're choosing to use prescription medication as treatment you will have to make sacrifices. In order to be certain your medication is working you shouldn't mix it with anything that could potentially change the balance of your brain. If you medicate and smoke and you still get panic attacks, how do you know which one is causing it or what to adjust. If smoking is important to you then ask your doctor if something else can be taken. Look into alternative therapy like a naturopath or talk therapy. Whatever treatment plan you choose, you need to be committed to it. Give it a chance to see if it works.
