I cannot bend further than 90. Have horrendous pain at back of leg. Told nerve damage from waist. Foot goes icy cold while knee feels hot. Knee gives way without warning. New joint looks twisted . Any advice appreciated as cannot bring surgeon appointment forward and GP says all related to op
Insist on a new xray. If its o.k then you probably have nerve damage that will take a long time to heal. Some of it could be from excessive bleeding or from unusual surgical damage. Right now a 90 bend sounds pretty good with all the other stuff you have going on.
Be gentle to yourself. Rest as much as possible, increase hydration. Keep working at it but don't let yourself get onto pain. Elevate and ice. Make sure when you walk you are going slowly and touching heel, toe and then bend. Don't hurry
Nerve pain is absolutely increible. I had it in the thigh after the operaton, meralgia paresthetica . . I can only say that in m case it did eventually settle down and I am left now (two and ahalf years later) with just a strange numb feeling in the whole of the thigh New joint looking twisted sounds bad. . .if they won't do an xray on the NHS any chance of getting it done privately perhaps, for your own peace of mind?
Oh dear! Part and parcel of the whole experience- I'm 16 months post op and still having problems
It's been a horrendous year and I'm crippled from it all.
I've been told I have to have further surgery but first I have to have a local for an injection to see if there's any infection
The procedure which I'm having done next week begins with 'a' but I can't remember the full name if anybody can help us be grateful
Is it arthroscopic?
Ask GP for x-ray urgently. Ask for x-ray to be sent directly to surgeon for opinion. Quads have to be strong or knee collapses. Happened to me and NO advice from surgeon. They just do surgery not recovery. Google Quad muscle strengthening exercises and DO them. I had all your symptoms and x-ray proved device was in perfect place. It could be that your muscles are weak. Exercise hamstrings and calf muscles. You gotta be proactive. I empathise totally but you must find a path forward. If you are in absolute agony admit yourself to emergency. I had to call paramedics in the early days. Good fortune! x
I had total knee replacement. GP is saying as all the problems i listed are connected to the op the surgeon has to decide investigations
I have been following all physio exercises. I actually have tender lumps on knee as well. Whole thing makes sleep erratic as as soon as i move i get woken with the pain
