1st check up with surgeon

Hello fellow hippies , it is now exactly two weeks since my RTHR and I feel good , from today I've stopped taking my codein phosphate and just been taking paracetamol and I'm not in any pain as such just a bit of stiffness . I am getting around easy with my crutches and sleeping well , with all the previous arthritis pain a thing of the past the reason I'm posting today is that last week I got my appointment to see the surgeon which was in 9 weeks time and I wasn't happy about this . But after a few phone calls I received another letter for a earlier appointment on the 19 th of May , I had the op on the 8th of April , I'm chuffed to bits I got it earlier . Hopefully I'll be up to speed with my progress by then . And then when I see the surgeon (hopefully ) I'll get the green light to step my recovery up ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey Scott,

Happy for you that you're feeling so well.  Being a bit of a wimp I'm still taking codeine (well, co-codamol which amount to much the same thing) but have halved the dose.

Yes, you need your follow up appointment as soon as possible after the 6 week period, if only to get the driving restricftion lifted.  That was the most important thing for me.

Good luck with the rest of your recovery.

Cels x

Hi Scott

It sounds like yr doing great, have you started physio yet?

Hello celsb , I don't think your a wimp still taking co codamol ๐Ÿ˜‰If you need them then take them , hopefully in 4 weeks time I'll get the green light . I can I say this forum site as been brilliant , what I don't know about hip replacement is not worth knowing .

Hi Joanne , apparently I don't do Physio unless when I see the surgeon and he feels I need it . Just got my excersises to do and walking .

Oh right. That's a brucie we're at a similar stage, I'm 10 days post op. What approach did you have ?

Indeed, we know about hip replacement from the patient side, something the medics might imagine but don't really experience, unless of course they've had a replacement.  Personally, I think it should be mandatory

Hi Scott,

Glad that you managed to get the appointment brought forward and that you are doing so well. Keep up the good progress

Hi Joanne it was the posterior approach

hi Scott,

๐Ÿปcheers mate. ..

big warm hug

Renee ๐Ÿฑ

Well done Scott, you seem to be coping very well. Keep going.  I didn't know you could get the appointments changed, mine is for almost 11 weeks on the dot, one day before, I had got it in my head it was 10 weeks., not long now anyhow, 3rd May.

Hi Lynne , the surgeon said to me I'll see you in 6 weeks , so when I got my letter saying 9 weeks I blew my top ๐Ÿ’ฅBut at least it has been reduced now ๐Ÿ˜„

That's got a result though, wish mine had been at 6 weeks lol

Sounds like you are doing great!!! Chuffed to bits? Does that mean very happy?

Yes erika I'm chuffed to bits .. Lol ...
