Hello. I was diagnosed with hsv2 on Thursday. I was devastated. The dr prescribed me Valtrex 500mg 2x a day for 7 days. The blisters Are trying to clear up, but I also see new blisters forming. Is this normal because this is my first outbreak? Does this mean my meds aren't working?
Also after my 7 days, do I just stop taking my meds in hope for it to clear up on its own?
A second crop of lesions during the first outbreak is normal, and it's common for the meds to be too late to do much. Just take the meds as prescribed, not more. Your body will take care of the rest and can do so even without the meds, just fyi.
