My doctor has put me on sertraline and im starting it tomorrow. I've been on citalopram for the past 4 years but recently my symptoms have got worse. I suffer with OCD and anxiety and have done since i was little. Im nervous about taking a new medicine but at the same time hoping its going to make my life easier and stop my brain racin constantly :D
While on citalopram my sex drive left me completely and i know other people have had this problem. Has anyone had the same side effect on sertraline? How long does it start to kick in? Info needed as i'm gettin stressed as usual. Lol.

Does it cause weight gain?
For what I can gather, everyone reacts differently to different medications within the SSRI range. I'm on Sertraline 100mg and to start with I had terrible anxiety and tension, loss of apetitie and a dry mouth. That wore off in a fortnight. Now all I notice is that I'm experiencing sexual dysfunction (female). My libido hasn't left me, but err... the rest has.
I'm scpetical about the emotional benefits the drug has had for me personally. It's always impossible to say how you would have felt otherwise.
You're going to get these risks no matter what medication you're on.
I don't know about weight gain because of the pills but I put weight on, mainly I suppose because I am content! The side effects we're mild with myself. I had some twitching in my legs while resting for a couple of days and the shakes every now and again for a few days. I still have a lower sex drive but that's the only side effect that has remained and seems to be the most common from the people I have spoken too.
