I must say that I would have never expected myself to be this far along after 2 months. I know many have made faster strides but I am happy with myself!
I am now managing the stairs. I did 3 loads of laundry myself! Hubby had to bring them up but I went down to put them in. I haven't driven yet but not sure if it's out of pain or fear. I walk around the house without a cane but use it to go outside. I haven't taken any pain pills for the last 3 1/2 weeks. I've been making meals and still sleeping with a pillow between my legs (although doc said I didn't have to) I wish all of you the best!
P.S. I think you are doing wonderful at 8 weeks post-op - are you kidding me? not to compare notes, but I am not doing as well as you are at 12 weeks post op - ...
I am just over 4 weeks post op, yesterday I did manage to walk our dog I am lucky because she will go at my place also being a greyhound a good hours walk a day is plenty for her, as for me I have not tried steps yet as we live in a bungalow, and I did wonder about kneeling but I am a bit of a coward to try it, according to my hubby it's too early to try kneeling and climbing stairs, I will say that the one thing I feel very strange is my hip keeps clicking not sure if this is normal, as for sleeping I am only allowed to sleep on my back did try to sleep on my side but found it very uncomfortable and no matter what time I go to bed come 2.30am wide awake all I can say thank goodness for my kindle tablet where I can read or play games on it till I get sleepy and manage to go off again.
I didn't start walking steps until maybe last week. And I was able to sleep on my side with a pillow between my legs. As for the clicking sound, I would ask my doctor. I haven't heard anything yet Good luck to tyou!
I have OA in all my joints and back and spine and obviously my hips. I was taking 1 Vicodin once a day when I needed it for pain but I haven't taken one for months now. I do have Oxycodone that they gave me in case I do have pain but it's been at least 3 1/2 weeks
This is more or less my experience at 7 weeks - I put in the laundry but can't lift it all in the basket when done. I don't generally use a cane round the house and garden now but take it on walks for a bit of security and use it sometimes. I've made a few meals too.
Stairs properly for me this last week only.
I have driven twice but only locally. I switched the car on (automatic) and tested that I could push the break vigorously with my operated leg first.
I do take pain killers at night still. I'm still on my back as sleeping on my side makes my back ache. This is partly the muscles above the operated hip on the lower back but also partly because I jarred my back at Christmas and it is still not back to normal.
There are still aches but I'm getting there. Generally happy but sometimes a bit frustrated - I keep reminding myself that 7 weeks is not very long!
Glad you are pleased with yourself! Here's to further improvements!
