Hi allen

 that is great news

i will warn you that taking your car out on the road before you have been cleared by your surgeon could cause you problems if you have an accident because you will not be covered by insurance. You won't be cleared to drive till your 6 week check so I would think twice about doing that.

ya i know but it close and im good driver.. it a new car and shifts easy and ill drive around yard few times to make sure and im not in city im in country not much traffic

It doesn't matter how good and careful; you are, there are so many idiots on the road that it is not really worth the risk

If you have an accident even if it was not your fault you would be held accountable because you should not be driving. You may also find it very difficult to get insured again. It does not matter how good a driver you are. There is always a chance your hip  will not be up to it and you won't be able to stop in an emergency.

I just hope if you really are thinking about doing this you don't kill any one there is always a chance it would be a child and you won't be able to do anything about it. Could you really live with yourself if you killed an innocent person when you were warned on a forum where everyone has been told the same thing NO DRIVING FOR  AT LEAST   6 WEEKS. !!!!!

A friend of mine drove before the 6 week period and had a accident, when contacting her insurance was told because she hadn't been cleared by the consultant for driving her insurance was null and void and she ended up with a repair bill for over £3000 is it worth taking a risk personally I would think twice about it also if you had to do a emergency stop you could easily dislocated the hip

if i did not think i could drive i would not..

Hi Allen

i really wouldn't risk driving before you've had the all clear from your consultant. You won't be covered by your insurance and I'm sure your wife wouldn't want you risking an accident to pick her up from work.

Best set wishes for your continued recovery.

It is not a case of weather you can drive or not. Ir is a case of your will be driving your car without insurance because what you will be doing is illegal.

If you want to take the chance of dislocating your hip. If you want to take that chance of having an accident then by all means go ahead. But if your hip dislocates or you have an accident while going to get your wife or even have one on the way home and you injure or even kill both or you because you just wanted to prove you can. Don't you think that is a little selfish ?

Yes you are right it might not happen. But most accidents happen on short trips from home to loacal areas. Do you really want to take that chance.doe the sake of 4 more weeks ? If your car was an automatic that may be different. But you reallt are taking a risk in a manual.
