Just to report I am feeling so much more like myself today, just 2 weeks after my Sacrospinous Fixation and Rectocele repair operation. The dreaded 'buttock pain' was pretty bad, and I was popping a lot of painkillers, but it now seems to have gone today( hopefully !
I was really worried about that, as it can possibly be a prolonged problem with this particular surgery .I have been resting loads as per everyones advice and it must have paid off. Not been out yet, so going to try a little outing tomorrow weather permiitting ! Must really tell my self not to over do things as I know there is a long way to go yet, but am looking forward now to my Birthday on Sunday ![]()
Hi ros. That's really good news and resting does help recovery. I remember the buttock pain well so it's good to hear yours seems to have settled. Just because you're feeling a bit better please don't overdo it though. Listen to your body is my motto
Yes rest is definitely the key even when you are feeling a bit better ! If you overdo it you will know about it lol !! Hope you have a great birthday X
Hi I am new to this site so havnt seen any of the other posts re:buttock pain!
i am 11 days post op (posterior and anterior repair plus vaginal hysterectomy) and I have had a strange feeling around the bottom area since!!! I can still feel a lot of pressure and it is quite uncomfortable to sit on) Glad to hear yours eased after 2 weeks! Have a lovely birthday and enjoy your 1st outing 😘
Thanks. I really hope to enjoy my birthday this year as last year (on my 60th ) I spent the day in hospital ( that's another story ! ) The 'buttock pain' is a 'side effect' of the 'Sacrospinous Fixation' procedure. I have the pressure feeling too at times but it's getting easier. Good luck with your recovery too
Thanks Matron I will behave. Am happy to have got this far. Really don't want to jeopardise anything !
Thanks Bunky I am taking it easy, which is hard for me, as was used ti buzzing about but hubby is keeping me in check !
Hi Ros. Really glad it's worked for you. I really agree that you need to take it easy. I'm 11 weeks post op. Unfortunately my double prolapse op didn't work for the 2nd time :-( but I hope you continue to recover. Xx
P's Happy Birthday for Sunday xxx
Oh dear Diane ,Do you know that for sure ? Have you had your post op appointment with the Consutant yet ? Mine os not for 3 months. I hope mine has works as I couldn't go through this again ! I was in last year and my previous op failed because of abdominal adhesions so this time was done vaginally x
Dear Ros. I am sorry to say that I am still very uncomfortable after 10 weeks pro-op. I'm worried about my job but I know that I spend most of my time in bathroom feeling uncomfortable. Really hope you have more success. I've had follow apt and waiting for botox injections and biofeedback. This is supposed to re-educate your muscles! xxx
Hi Diane - sorry to ask but is that because you are having problems with BMs ? I only ask as I am 10 weeks post op now ! Consultant tells me everything is fine and healing well and seems to pretty much ignore my concerns re BMs just tells me to take more docusate !!!!
You talk about buttock pain...is that pressure, actual pain...and/or pain when having a bm? Would it maybe help to eat only a liquid diet with the stool softeners? I'm scheduled for mine on the 24th of February....trying to be proactive.
No judi The pain was a direct result of the operation as they stitch to the sacrospinous ligament. It now seems much better thank fully. Not had any issues with BM 's like some... I have made sure I have eaten lots of fruit and veg and drunk lots of water. Took some lactose for a couple of days following the op until things started moving again Good luck , be positive and you'll be fine. What op are you having ?
