I spoke with the hospital yesterday for my telephone interview for surgery 03-10-15. 

When i asked which supplement to stop, i was told my flax oil because it has blood thinning effects. But could take the rest like, L-Carnatine, Vit D3, B-1. B-12, Calcium, Multi Vit, Pro-Biotic.

So this morning i decided to call my surgeons nurse to confirm this information and she told me to stop ALL supplements that i take.

I'm glad i called to confirm. Anyone else have this experience?

I was told to stop all vitamins and any herbal supplements 2 weeks before surgery, aspirin one week before and any alcohol 24 hours before surgery.

They told me to stop the fish oil for the same reason, but I just stopped everything two weeks before surgery just to be safe.

I was told to stop everything including any blood thinners 10 days prior to surgery.  The only thing I was to take was iron because im anemic.

I was told at my pre op assessment to stop all supplements and this was confirmed in writing.  Good luck

I also was told to stop all supplements one week prior, I had a great pre op consultant, she wrote everything down, she was very good and several times asked if I had questions, very patient
