2 year post LTHR

i had a Left THR January 2019 and had a very quick recovery and have since had a wonderful two tears mobility and pain free. since Covid started I have been walking 5km most days and all has been good.
about a week ago I developed what i can only describe as a nerve like discomfort in my operated side. I dont have ‘pain’ in my hip and can stand on one leg and walk and bend without pain in my hip itself but this nerve like pain/discomfort runs from the top of my hip around the side and front of my thigh down to my knee. sometimes i can get it comfortable by twisting my foot inward when lying or sitting.
It is making sleeping difficult and is worrying my in case its hip related

Hi john26284, pretty much identical situation for me. I had my hip replaced a month before you December 2018, recovered quickly and had 2 years pain-free with lots of exercise. I was thrilled the similar pain came on over a couple of days last November and has gradually worsened. Have had all the tests and everything has been eliminated including any problem with the hip itself. Unfortunately its a can of worms though as there as so many other unrelated things it could be i.e. nerves, ligaments, tendons etc. I am still troubleshooting.

I would suggest seeing a physio to put your mind at rest. There are so many innocent things it could be but I understand the worry and it can get on top of you very easily.

I have a similar problem along the front of my thigh and also in my groin when I lie down particularly. My surgeon said it was caused because I dislocated my hip just after the op. I think he was just looking for something to pacify me!
