2 years without period

Hi you lovely people

I am 52 and have not had a period for almost 2’years. I am occasionally experiencing  the cramps and low backache as if your period is coming and going to start but doesn’t.  It normally only last few days and only happens once in a blue moon.  I was wondering if it’s just one of the many symptoms associated with the menopause amongst all the other horrendous things we go through. Your feedback would  be appreciated.

I’ve read about this happening to many women in menopause. They refer to it as a phantom period. It’s not unusual!

Hi julie, 

Ive gone nearly a year without a period. Got really bad cramps today and told my partner i had what felt like period pains and sure enough, my period had come. I take a HRT tablet called elleste duet 1mg. On my 3rd month and got first period, it says this could happen so im not too alarmed.
