20M Asian, Progressive symptoms for 2 years (hair loss, weight loss, vein issues, fatigue). Most tests normal. Any medical insight?

20M Asian dealing with multiple health issues for the past 2 years – trying to understand what’s going on

I’m a 20-year-old Asian male. For the past couple of years I’ve been dealing with a number of health problems and they seem to be gradually getting worse. I’m posting here because I still don’t fully understand what’s happening to me.

Current symptoms:

  1. My hair has been turning gray at a young age.

  2. Significant hair loss (almost going bald now).

  3. Veins in my legs have become very visible. I can’t stand for long and walking sometimes causes pain.

  4. I also get pain in my arms. Veins become slightly visible, but if I raise my arm they go back to normal. Sometimes I feel pain around the wrist area.

  5. Ongoing sleep problems.

  6. Losing weight and feeling tired all the time.

  7. Nausea when trying to eat (this has actually been happening since 2019).

  8. Frequent urination.

  9. If I put pressure on my penis similar to when stimulating it during self-pleasure, it swells up and the swelling tends to last. Even when it reduces a bit, it never fully goes back to how it was before.

  10. I was diagnosed with varicocele on the left testicle, but despite the right testicle not having varicocele, I have been experiencing persistent pain on the right side for a long time.

How these problems started:

Back in 2018, I started having a strange issue: whenever I tried to eat, I felt like vomiting. Unfortunately I couldn’t seek medical treatment at the time. For several years I forced myself to eat by swallowing food with water.

April 2022

At that time I had a habit of frequent self-stimulation, but then I stopped for a long period. Around the same time, I also became extremely inactive. I stayed inside the house all day and barely went outside.

I also started eating much more rice than before, almost double my previous amount. I occasionally had indigestion. My weight increased very quickly from 48 kg to over 68 kg, and I gained a lot of body fat, especially around my stomach.

February 2023

I suddenly developed severe pain on the left side of my neck that lasted for several weeks. At one point it felt like the side of my neck might tear if I moved. I mostly stayed in bed because standing up made the pain worse.

When the pain improved slightly, I checked my blood pressure at a pharmacy. They told me it was only slightly above normal and nothing to worry about.

After that, I began having sleep problems. Even when I was exhausted, I couldn’t fall asleep easily. Sometimes I couldn’t sleep at all during the night.

August 2023

I started noticing fresh blood during bowel movements, even with slight pressure. This happened almost every day and there was mild pain, like a small cut or tear near the end of the anus. Due to lack of time and opportunity, I didn’t seek treatment immediately.

September 2023

I noticed my hair starting to turn gray, and it progressed very quickly. At the same time, my weight started decreasing.

April 2024

Since my hair had become very gray and thin, I went to a dermatologist. He prescribed the following medications:

Nature E 200 IU

Zifolet

D-Cap 20,000 IU (once weekly)

Novogain

Tests ordered:

TSH

CBC (with ESR)

SGPT (ALT)

He told me to take the medications for two months and return with the reports.

However, after taking the medications, my hair condition actually got worse. It became very rough and hair fall increased.

I later did some tests including TSH, CBC, serum creatinine, and Vitamin D3. Everything was normal except Vitamin D insufficiency, for which I took supplements. Even after that, my main problems didn’t improve. Vitamin E sometimes made my skin feel smoother but didn’t solve the bigger issues.

July 2024

Hair loss increased even more and my hair kept turning gray. My weight kept dropping.

I also noticed something like a thick tube-like structure in my left testicle, though there was no pain at that time and walking was normal.

February 2025

I went to a hospital because of the bleeding during bowel movements. They didn’t immediately find anything and recommended several tests before doing a short colonoscopy.

Tests included:

ECG

HBsAg, Anti-HCV

Serum Creatinine

Albumin

CBC

CEA

Chest X-ray

RBC

I didn’t end up doing the colonoscopy, but I completed the other tests. All of them came back normal. Currently, the rectal bleeding has stopped.

However, my overall condition kept getting worse. I get tired very quickly, have dark circles under my eyes, and look very thin. My hair loss became so severe that my head is almost bald now.

April 2025

For a few days I started eating boiled eggs, and I noticed my hair suddenly became smoother again. At first I didn’t realize the connection.

When I stopped eating eggs, my hair became rough again. When I started eating them again, it improved. Since then I started eating two boiled eggs daily (with yolk) and the hair loss almost stopped.

Later I switched to only egg whites, and my hair loss hasn’t returned to the severe level it was before.

July 2025

I suddenly developed severe pain in my right testicle, even though the right side had no varicocele.

I went again to a hospital, this time to the Urology department. A Doppler ultrasound showed Grade-1 varicocele on the left side. The doctor said treatment wasn’t necessary at this stage and recommended managing it and taking ibuprofen for pain if needed.

The testicular pain improved somewhat after a while. It was quite strong until around September, but now it’s much less.

However, interestingly, the testicle without varicocele sometimes hurts when I walk.

Current situation

Things have continued to get worse overall:

My weight keeps dropping

My face and eyes look sunken

Veins across my body have become more visible

I now see tube-like veins in my left thigh, similar to what I noticed in the testicle area

Walking causes pain in both legs, especially below the knees

Sometimes even standing causes pain

At this point I feel like my condition is gradually deteriorating, but despite many tests I still don’t know the cause.

It’s confusing and frustrating because many of these problems appeared suddenly and kept increasing over time.

If anyone has experienced something similar or has ideas about what could be going on, I would really appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Why’d you skip the Colonscopy? That’s one of the most important tests to get! You say you’re Asian - do you mean in genetic lineage only? Or are you Asian in genetic lineage AND living in Asia? I ask because I know certain countries have more people contracting parasites than others, like Vietnam and India more people get parasites than in China/Japan. Possibly a parasitic issue? Are you losing muscle too? And if you are losing muscle - is it asymmetrical, or is it on both sides evenly? Are your nerves still working properly? You say eggs improved your symptom of hair loss, that means you can correct the problem. Do you think it’s possible to see if you are absorbing nutrients properly? I see you did a blood test; but, maybe seeing a dietician would be more proper as they can tell you if they think it may be a nutrient absorption issue. Your hair is still gray? Or has it recolored since eating eggs?

Sorry your having these problems. It is interesting that eating eggs made your hair loss stop. It probably means your not getting enough protein. Either your not eating enough or it is not being absorbed properly. If you eat other sources of protein like meat, soy, or dairy products does it prevent hair loss? The person who goes by the name Resurrection has some good recommendations. You should get checked for parasites who may be stealing your nutrients. You could also just treat for parasites and see what happens. Try using Ivermectin, mebendazole, Fenbendazole, or Oregeno oil to kill parasites. There are probably some other treatments if you look around. You should also get a colonoscopy.
