22 days on Venlafaxine... When will it,stabilize at good

So 22 days on ven at 75mg at 2xday.. Still good and bad days..moments..when will this level off and I start to feel more consistently better?

My dr told me that will get bad before it does hood. And it's taking 2 steps forward one back. It really sucks. As of tomorrow I am not taking anymore Ven, and I'm quite terrified, my dr ordered me a anti anxiety med and something for nausea. I just have to tell me self that this will get better, my dr promised me it would. I'm sorry we all have to.go thru this. I wish you luck and I pray for the strength and comfort to get thru this.

Hi. I'm sorry you're on medication for your anxiety. I am too, but it will help. You should start feeling a difference right about now. You're only into this for 3 weeks, and typically, we reach the therapeutic levels at about 6-8 weeks. Look at it this way, you've waited and come this far with and without medication. I bet you feel a bit better than day one, right? So hang in there and be patient.

You can try vigorous exercise like walking or biking. It's Summer, so if you can swim somewhere...

I cut out caffeine and sugar and usually shut off all electronics about an hour or two before bed. I also use the "calm" app on my phone.

It's always good to help the medication do its job, Get your rest. Oh, there are ways to boost serotonin ... Just Google it.... With vitamins, foods and exercise.

Come here for support when you need it! I also find that I feel better when I help someone. God bless you with peace of mind for a good night sleep!

Linda, don't quit cold turkey. You might and probably will have some very uncomfortable withdrawals symptoms. How long have you been on it? Venlafaxine is something you must wean off of. I did it once, but now am taking it again. It does take an average of 6-8 weeks to reach the therapeutic levels, and in your case, you may need a higher dose if you've been on it longer than two months and have not seen consistent benefits. Just rethink this before you stop altogether. God bless you

Prayers for you too Linda!❤️

Thanks Tammy! I need, all the, support I can get! God Bless❤️I will be patient..

Hello.

I’ve been on this medication for almost 2 months and I am just now starting to feel the benefits. Not going to lie, it made me feel pretty crappy for awhile. Anxious, nauseous, internal shakes, sleeping problems, night sweats. But i am feeling pretty great now!

Try and stick with it. If it doesn’t start helping around 6 weeks or so, talk to your doctor.

Best of luck.

Tammy, I'm not doing this cold turkey, Lord, I couldn't do that. When I said I was taking my last Ven, it's from over a month ago, weaning off of it. And I was prescribed the anti anxiety and nausea in case I need it. I've had panicky feelings the past few days. But no, never cold turkey, for me.

I have been on it for 17 yrs, I think you responded to me when I first posted about withdrawl from Effexor

Thanks for the reassurance! 😊

Hope it works for you soon Leahe... Personally I found it a life saver 15 years ago but had to build to 300mg before I responded to it...( It hits a third neurochemical at plus that dose) As advised to to be patient and Lord knows that's easier said than done when dealing with this illness but there's nothing quite as wonderful as when it clears and you're back. Truly hope U get there sooner rather than later

Thanks! I hope soon. I've suffered from anxiety and depression since I was 21. I just can't fake and fight through it anymore. I've decided to take a chance and hope that the rest of my years will be more pleasant happier ones..life is hard and lately just exhausting. I am 58 now so.... I don't care if I'm on it for the long run. Thanks for the positive! I so need the positive...☺️

I sincerely hope it works for you X

Hello, recntly was on same as yourself, 75mg morning and night. Spent 5 weeks on it. It feels good taking it. Improvements were slow and gradual. After 5 weeks, thoughts improvements werent enough, so went up to 187 for 2 weeks, and now 225mg. You need to give it at least 4 weeks, to see if you need an increase, possibly a bit longer. Moving to 187 made a noticeable difference, moving to 225 4 days ago has helped more. Really down periods seem to have stopped, and seem to be able to face everday now, without dread. Also doing more in last week or so. Sometimes even happy now, with a bit of hope. Ven has been a life saver for me, so glad i moved to it 10 weeks ago. I was in a right mess then. If you have improved, then ven is for you, just need to be on it for long enough, and be on right dose. Give your current dose at least another 2 weeks, before seeing your doctor for a review.

Pysc thought i needed 187 or possibly 225mg to stabalise my moods, that was after being on 150mg for 5 weeks. Hope this helps.

Thank you..I have a doc appt in 3 weeks. Figured I'd wait till I go and talk to her. See how I feel at that point. This med def feels diff than others..like more promising.

It seemed different to me as well early on, even when it wasnt fully working, as i wasnt on right dose. No side effects, and with it being immediate release, liked the feeling after 1 hour of taking it. Last 2 weeks on 187 made me feel slightly better in just 2 weeks. After being on 225mg for 4 days its even better. My personal circumstances are exactly the same, just feel i can deal with things and when my worries surface, can think or do something more posisitive. Mainly the dread feeling has gone. Also my anxiety levels havent increased on ven, possibly even a little lower. 3 weeks would be a good time to review improvements, and consider a dose increase if necessary. Dont worry about high numbers 225mg of ven, is at same lebel/strength as 40mg of citalopram for example.

One of the most positive thinks I found with it was it still allowed normal emotional range whist working as an anti-depressant... I had been on Seroxat before and had been unable to cry and react normally to grief. Awful stuck feeling.. It was when I came off it . Whereas with Effexor normal crying and processing. As well as sleep regulation. I'm just so sad I've lucked out on it now.

I agree!

Just spoke with my doc. She said to go to 1 1/2 in am and 1 in eve.. So total 187.50.. Ill start tomorrow and see if it helps...thanks again..
