For the past couple of months I've had really bad constant 24/7 stomach ache. It feels like fatigue - as if my stomach muscles have been through strenuous exercise. It's not painful as such but it's uncomfortable and I am unable to function normally because of it.
I also have aching in my lower back and (occasionally) my rectum aches a bit. Also, I don't know if it's related but I also have a constant mild heartburn type of feeling in my chest.
At first I thought it was indigestion or a bowel problem. I was prescribed medication for indigestion from my doctor but it hasn't worked and my the stomach ache does not go away after a bowel movement.
Does anyone know what can cause constant stomach aching/fatigue?
It could be alot of things, this is something I would get checked out right away with a colon and Rectal Specialist or Gastoenterologist, or go to your nearest hospital. They may do several tests, such as a barium enema, colonoscopy, MRI, blood tests, sigmoidscopy, bowel exam or endoscopy. Any number of things could be happening..stomach ulcer, appendicitis, roundworm, stomach cancer, ulcerative colin, diverticulitis, Chrons syndrome, gallbladder, pancreas, kidney infection, it's hard to say without having tests done. Keep us posted. But it is dangerous to put it off.
Thanks Josephine for your response. The reason I haven't been to a hospital is because I'm not able to see a specialist without the go-ahead from my GP (as far as I'm aware anyway).
Let us know the outcome. You are very welcome. ☺
Ask your GP to refer you to a specialist for tests. Do you have change of bowel habit? Does your stomach pain move about? Does you pain reduce even for a short time after a bowel movement? With IBS, pain only reduces temporarily after a bowel movement and then comes back fully. This is my experience with IBS. If you have the symptoms I have mentioned along with one ones you are currently suffering, it may be IBS.
