I found out a few months ago that I have 1 subserosal fibroid above my uterus and cystic ovaries. I went into the doctor for my women's annual and because my periods have become more painful in the last 9 months. Growing up the only time I would cramp was 1 day during ovulation. Now, I cramp during ovulation and the first 2 days of my period. The cramping isn't that bad, but the sudden change prompted me to ask the doctor. My bleeding is heavy during the first 2 days and very light during the last 4-5 days. Other than that my periods are normal. It comes every 28 days exactly and it's always been that way. I am on track to losing weight and I have noticed that my periods are a tad less painful than 9 months ago. The doctor says that the kind of fibroid I have doesn't usually cause major problems with fertility or anything. She also said the fibroid was small (didn't say the exact size). But since I'm young should I expect this to get worse? Am I likely to have more or larger fibroids as I get older? I'm afraid to get surgery. My aunt got hers removed about 25 years ago and it left scarring so she can't have kids. Hopefully with the advancement of technology the surgery would be less risky if I have to get it?
hello, the fibroid will grow and if you are already having painful periods, it will worsen! You are young, but there is no reason to keep fibroids, you have to have an easier calmer flow during your cycle. I would ask that you get an ultrasound to found out exactly where, how many and the size of any fibroid. I am SeanjariPreeti and I hope I was able to assist you.
Hi Geena, is likely that the fibroids will develop in other parts of the uterus and they grow fast. With regards to the surgery you should not be afraid as now days the doctors are very competent and the risks are small. In your case you may have a hysterscopy and the recovery is fast.
