26 year old, unsure about my hair loss

I've noticed over the past few years my hair receding slightly on the sides. But now it seems to have started thinning on each side of the crown.

From googling things I've been slightly worried that it could be from an untreated STD like syphilis which can cause "occasionally, patchy hair loss". Or is this just normal hair loss? How can I make my hair grow back or is this how it's meant to be? Any guidance would be much appreciated :)

I have had some scalp pain also where it has been thinning/receding

It could be dermatitis also, or even fungi. Stop googling and visit your doctor immediately.

any history of baldness in the family?

Not really, think my mums dad was bold. Doesn’t seem to have gone any worse in the past 5 months.
