2nd bunion op

**has anyone had a second op after an unsucesful first surgery?

how long ago was your first. i had mine done 3 years ago and seeing a doctor at end of month because its back

I have been back to see a foot surgeon because i have been in pain since i had my opp 21 months ago and i have been told the last surgeon that performed the surgery wrong the screw he put in was too big and my toe has never been straight. I am very upset and angry that i have to go through all that pain as have been left with a limp. I wish you luck in your opp and let us know how it went

Hi Sophie, I thought I was going to have a second op but it now seems the surgeon doesn’t want to do it as he thinks I will get a stiff toe. He under corrected the left toe, I could see on the x-rays the familiar ‘arrow’ shape of the two bones was still there after but not as bad, then within a few months the toe looked nearly as bad as before. The second toe was over corrected, looks great and is not painful. The surgeon is now saying he removed the original bunion problem so the look of it doesn’t matter though I have aching pain back and sharp stabbing pains just like before the op. I am not very happy with this of course but afraid that if I insist on another re-operation I will end up with a stiff limp toe. Good luck

I did. But it was a month after the first one because the doctor that did it messed up. I had both feet done and i don’t know what exactly went wrong but he didn’t stabilize the bones correctly and they somehow moved on their own and weren’t healing because they weren’t aligned with the rest of the bone D: So I went to a private clinic at April 9th and re-did the surgery by a different doc… (first surgery was at February 21st) The results seem great so far, however i’ve lost a lot of toe mobility and flexibility. My toes were CRAZY flexible before (having danced ballet for years and all that…) so now it’s a little upsetting, but I literally didn’t move my toes for FOUR months…so i’m glad I have a somewhat normal mobility at least..
hopefully i’ll never have bunions again!!

I had to have two surgeries within a week and a half. Turns out that my bones are soft and the hardware pulled loose from the bone. The second time, he put in a titanium plate. I was not weight bearing for 6 weeks. That was tough!

I had my bunion op in September 2016 and ended up with a worse bunion and a very painful little toe as the bunion pushed my little toe outwards as my big toe was so bent. The op was done by a Podiatrist Surgeon.
I have been to see an orthopaedic surgeon and he is to do a fusion operation in December. Looking at the latest x-ray, I have a bone that has come away and he is going to leave the pins where they are.
I am upset too that I am going to have another op. I am going to get a knee scooter to get around on as I think this will be easier than crutches
