Had right hip replacement on 31st October 2014 at the time my left hip wasn't bad , but passed couple months been in pain and now having left one done ,got a cancellation for 14th august . is this too soon after first hip replacement.
It really depends how you feel and the pain with the other hip.
I would say No it is not to soon. Why I had right hip done Sept 9th 2014 and had left hip done 19th may 2015. So I would say go for it.
But it is your choice
Jane
Thank you Jane I had no problem with right hip apart from few muscle pain.
Hi Diane I needed both my hips done pretty quick I see my consutant on 9 th Feb and got called in for a cancelation on 21st March and now I am having the second hip done on 16 july first hip was great np next thursday can not come quick enough, so I would not worry to much
best regards
Ron
Hi Diane,
well i hope not! as I had my first done nov.16th last year, and like you my other hip wasn't as bad, bit the last 5 months!! sheer agony, so I'm going in this month for my 2nd, I'm sure it will be better than all this debilitaing pain, so if your surgeon thinks it's right for you, go for it! good luck, see you on the other side
Hi Diane ... I am in the process of getting THR on other hip . Had R THR on March 16, 2015 - First follow up appointment with surgeon was May 13, 2015 where xray showed that other hip's cartilage was worn out to almost bone-on-bone ...this was such a shock to me; however, thanks to my fellow hippie-friends here on this forum, I am feeling okay about it ,,,
I agree with the others: re; surgeon and how you feel ...
Please stay in touch .... there are a lot of 2nd time THR hippies here...
warm hug
renee
Hi diane
No not too soon at all. They can replace both hips 3 months ( 12 weeks ) apart if they really have to. So ten months is plenty of time between. Good lucjk with it. x
Hi Diane I am also waiting for my second operation, mine was on 16 may this year, and am on the Preop for 23 July, they measure your blood and Xray you again and check you over, that is the relief of having the epidural you can have another operation sooner than a gemeral, but there are more issues with the general some true others false, not sure if you can have more than 1 per year, but the Epidural was fine for me, and I dont remember a thing, as I asked to be put to sleep...Do I dont think its too soon the first one needs the second one so you get your legs working together as soon as you can.
Best of luck and keep us posted how it goes. Ian.
I don't think it's tok soon, provided the operated side feels good enough.
I had my first hip done May 15th, and am now scheduled for August 27th to have the other one done.
The operated side is now actually my good side, I switched my support crutch for the operated side to supporting the unoperated side. For me it is not a moment too soon.
Having said that though, again, it's time only if your operated side feels up to it to support the new operation.
Thank you for all replies glad not the only one having to go through operation twice. Thankyou for all vgood advice x
good luck to you the sooner the better we dont go to see the consultant for three weeks and eric is getting worse only hope it wont be to long not holding our breath it has to be done again after 10 years and hes 86 janet x
