2nd hip replacement

Hi hippies

Went for my six week check yesterday after THR right my left was injected in may and has kept me going while my right hip heals.

Unfortunately it has given up the ghost and has started to give me a lot of pain and grief.

I told the surgeon yesterday and he has relisted me for my left hip to be replaced and while I know I will feel so much better once it's done I am dreading the thought of going through it again any words of encouragement would be appreciated

Susan

Susan iust focus on the fact that the pain will be gone, you have been through one so know what to expect. I know if my other hip needed doing at any time. I would be better prepared than the first one was and I would hope that my recovery would be quicker. Good luck.

Hi Susan. Has your recovery not been as good as you expected? Is that why you don’t want to go through another replacement?

I just had my second, 1 year exactly after my first. My first was so easy and though I really preferred not to go through another one I knew I had to. The pain was just getting worse and started to go down my thigh and knee.

This time it’s slow at healing. I’m uncomfortable but I’m glad I did it because I know soon I will be healed. That bone on bone pain is gone.

I’m not a very patient person and I want to go back to work though I know I won’t be able to for at least another month.

Wishing you the best and try to stay positive. All surgeries are not alike. I th

You can do it, Susan!   Think of the  painless post-surgery!!!

I had both of mine done at the same time! So glad I did! I am feeling great and back to work! .......dancer teacher /choreographer ...teaching 5 to 6 hours a day!

Since you already know what to expect it can be tough.  There is nothing to do but take the example of our vets who suffer through limb problems and work hard at staying positive. Make your mind work on it and be determined.
