Just been for my second physio and she said she was really pleased with my progress. My bend is 90. I've got lots more exercises to do and can try going up a few stairs normally. I am still in a lot of pain and my knee is very swollen. She gave me larger tights.
Have to do more icing but all in all very pleased. I am 3 weeks and 4 days so a long way to go but feel much better in myself. x
Still at the beginniing of the journey, so don't stress too much! Sounds as if everything is going according to plan, but don't be too disheartened if you get the odd day when it all seems to go wrong. . because most of us have experienced that! It is in the nature of this particular beast.
That's great. It will continue to improve but you will still get off days so don't let that knock you too much. I'm having a terrible day today. 12 weeks post op and I've got pains I haven't felt in weeks. Hopefully tomorrow will be better x
Yes the physio said the same. I am under no illusions as this is my second tkr but am feeling a bit more human now. No doubt I will have lots more pain. I think the weather has a lot to do with it too. It's a lovely sunny day today. X
Hi Kathryn am only 25 days post opp but i no were your coming from, am having a terrible day myself today i do no there will be many more to come, but hey reading the great posts on this site lets you no, you will get better in time, am due for my second P/T tomorrow just like joan, not looking forward to that. Hope all a quick recovery and back to a nomality
Brian, I'm judging by the initials after your name that you may of had your surgery in the Liverpool area. I did and I've lost count of how many P/T sessions I've had in the last 12 weeks due to complications (previous issues with muscles rather than the TKR). However, although tough, most of mine have really helped me. They've went a bit easier on days when I'm struggling and the staff have been brilliant. My measurements are not where anyone would like them to be but all I can do is keep trying.
Kathryn lol yes i did have my opp in the Liverpool area am from the Wirral i had it done at the Runcorn / Halton hosiptal . like ive said in another post, befor your opp you would of had a pre opp to measure % bend in your leg and if that was only 60/ 70% then theres no way your are expected to have a 90% to a 110% after opp for a long time and a lot of P/T is needed to get there, all your tendons muscles have shortened over time when you could not move your knee (walk climb stairs etc ) so if there was,nt much bend and flex then its a long of hard work to get it working again. cheers <b)
