2nd TKR

Heading to the hospital at 6am for my right tkr. Had my left one done in Sept and had a great recovery. I keep telling myself that if this one goes half as well as the last I'll be in great shape. See you in a few days!

You will do great!

Sending prayers to you tonight for a calm and successful surgery experience tomorrow!

Omg- I am going in tomorrow at 10 am for my right tkr, too. I had left one done mid Nov. it has been a great recovery. I was just saying to my daughter I'm a little afraid this one won't go as well. It's nice to hear someone in the same place. Good Luck to us both and we'll talk in a few days. However, with the pain meds I'm not sure I will make much sense!!!

Sending prayers to you for your surgery tomorrow!

It will be great to get rid of your pain and get going on starting recovery and being eventually free of knee pain!

Thank you Cheryl. You have a wonderful calming effect on me- you posted a message to me before.

Take care

Good luck.  Hope everything goes to plan

Wishing you well in your 2nd TKR recovery. Keep in touch.

Hope everything goes well for your other knee op. I had PKR in Oct in the UK and I am desperate to get left knee done as in so much pain but my surgeon won't discuss it till March and then might have 3 month wait. Back to work tomorrow after 12 weeks off but wondering how I will cope with working and disturbed nights.

Are you able to sit when you are at work, also make sure you keep spare meds in your drawer

Hi

Yes I sit at work as I am admin for NHS. Only take meds at night but still get pain and hate being sleepy at work.

The meds I’m on during the day don’t make me sleepy.  At night, I take 2 amitriptyline (10mg) 3 if stressed and 1 zoplicone (3.75mg).  They normally take about 30 mins to gently knock me out.  It is enough to keep the pain at a manageable level and I can still wake up in the night if needs be (kids coming home, cat jumping on the bed, that blasted blackbird singing its head of at 2am, etc). Getting up in the morning can sometimes be tough, but after a shower and a cup of coffee I’m raring to go.  There is no way I could go to work without painkillers.  With the weather this time of year I also keep a wheatie bag in my office drawer.  When the cold creeps into my joints, the wheatie creeps into the microwave. What I take may not suit everyone, they work for me, but I had to take quite a few awful ones before being prescribed these.  They allow me to function and don’t fuddle my brain, am safe to drive and can have a drink in the evening. Being in pain and having to work would be soul destroying and having to be polite on top uurggh!!!!

Also keep something under your desk on which to rest your leg

im with you on the blackbird singing as if it were 8am but at 3 or 4am its not funny !!! .  i just thought the little blighter had something wrong with him so its not unusual !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, they let all and sundry know they are in the area,  seem to feed during the day and sing after midnight.  Hope you had a good Christmas. How many New Year resolutions have you managed to break ? :-)
