Hi, don't take it for granted that your first date for your op will materialise. Since March 5th I have had 3 ops cancelled (one the night before) and I am now keeping everything crossed I will finally get my THR on May 21st. I am glad I pestered my GP and told a few white lies when being assessd so that I could see a consultant asap. Glad I did as now struggle to walk.  All happened from zero to extreme pain in a total of 6 months. Will update after the life changing day of May 21st !!!!! Hopefully

Hi, good luck to you. I had to tell a porky or two to speed things up for my op as no replies or lost records etc. And like you deteriorated even more rapidly.  Hope all goes according to plan now.

I had 2 ops cancelled due to black alert in January ( 1 was night before) and Nov 2014's list was put back to Dec but was then sent to private hospital paid for by NHS which was brilliant somworth the extra couple weeks wait.

Hi my hospital has been a private one paid for by NHS as well but with NHS service it seems. Thanks for the good luck message.

Oh no and still got cancelled, I was told I'd been sent to private hospital, so it definitely wouldn't be cancelled, mind you the previous ones were cancelled due to black alerts at NHS hospital. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to all of you -- Living in Holland, what are black alerts??? I was hoping my surgery would be cancelled, I was that terrified ... but it wasn't and now happy about it ....

Hello Renee

Black alerts are when an NHS hospital has no more beds available, they have to cancel all non urgent admissions and as orthopaedics is non life threatening, its always the first to get cancelled.

That's tough for you.  Hope that everything goes well for the 21st.  Its unbelievable how things change so quickly, from having bearable pain, to excruciating pain in 6 months, which is what happened to me too.  Afterwards having no pain was wonderful.

Hi Harboroabbo . ..That's long!

My fear is cancellation of dates. I haven't told anyone what date I've got in case its cancelled. Does make me laugh though as I've got to book a blood test 2-5 days prior to op in case of transfusion.

I hope you do get the op on 21st, hope to hear how it goes and your recovery details.
