3 day headaches every 2 to 3 weeks

Does anyone else suffer with these in peri? They seem to be frontal and around left eye and ear. If so what do you take for them? I've just been alternating between paracetamol and ibuprofen but they only ever take the edge off.

Any advice appreciated. Xx

Yes I get these fairly frequently. Sorry don't have any suggestions as to what to take. I also find that painkillers only take the edge off. I know quite a few people who have similar headaches during menopause. Sorry can't help with the cure but if you find one please let me know. Xxx

Hi yes I also suffer a cluster of headaches & nausea & I also take paracetamol or co-codamol, but whichever I take doesn't get rid of it, they seem to wear off by themselves. Glad you bought it up hope you get some advice xx

Thanks, I will do. Xx

I also get headaches and nausea, quite often the nausea is first thing (like being pregnant (I presume as never have been) no fun,Mohave to rely on anti nausea meds.

I also find pain killers don't get rid of the headache, just take the edge off.

I seem to have a near permanent headache, somedays worse than others and always across my forehead. I asked the Dr and she said I shouldn't take paracetamol everyday as then you get a withdrawal headache so I tend to just put up with it unless it starts affecting my functioning then I take paracetamol or co-dydramol.

It is horrible isn't it? xx

Yes it's awful. When it's really bad I just want to curl up and sleep which unfortunately isn't possible. My stressful and exhausting job just makes things worse so by the time I get home I'm not fit for anything, which is tough when they appear every 2 to 3 weeks. Xx

This may seem weird but do you ever get nausea in bed at night. I can be ok then turn onto my left side and wham ,it comes on?? Think I must be strange!!

No I can't say I have but if I bend my head even slightly to pick something up or write at desk etc I get a horrible heavy head, dizzy, sickly feeling. Xx

Two years ago I  was suffering hormonal headaches 4/5 days a week - felt like migraine but not as bad so could just about function, but I was still missing one day a week from work. I saw accupunturist for around 4 sessions and the headaches dropped off immediately to just 2 headaches a month.

I take Codis which is soluble codeine (which doctors don't like as can be addictive) but it seems to do the trick for me most of the time.

sorry meant to add that most of my headaches now only last one day.  I have noticed recently that ever other month is worse. There is a really good diary on the Migraine Trust website where you can log them....  Good luck x

Hi,

Since my menopause symptoms started 4 years ago, my migraines have got worse - more frequent - etc

I also get bad headaches. So

I take Sumatriptan (Brand name Imigran)

Just one 50mg tablet. I take 2 x 50mg tablets for migraine

and it works 9 out of 10 times for both bad headaches and migraine if I take them quickly enough

I get them on prescription, they are expensive to buy. (if you try them, don't take with ibuprofen)
