3 months on ....

Hello everyone! I am new to this site & thought I could maybe get some advice.

I am a 41 year old female & I have suffered from IBS for over 20 years now.

I was admitted to hospital weeks ago with severe pain in the right hand side of stomach & doctors though it was appendicitis. I got a CT Scan and Ultrasound scan that confirmed it was not appendicitis. I was kept in for a few days on an IV drip with antibiotics and drinking morphine. The pain then went in to my legs and I was hardly able to walk.

I am now home and I am waiting to see a consultant. I suffer with low phosphate levels (0.50) which the doctor says is increasing but not at the rate it should be? I am also not hungry, forcing myself to eat, have lost a lot of weight, intense pain in stomach that comes on with no warning & I can go to toilet between 3-7 times a day!

Dispairing as if this is IBS I have never had it as bad as this.

Medication - buscopan, mebeverine, don't always help with the pain.

Anyone else in this situation?

I have bowel disease in the family.

Any advice?

Thank-you!

Maybe cut out Mebeverine; it is an known irrutant.   I was prescribed this and I got a lot worse.  I stopped taking it and immediately felt better.  Buscopan helps me.  Have you tried a food diary and The Low Fodmap diet?

I've been given buscopan and mebeverine as well. Buscopan & motilium caused a terrible leg twitch that I ended up having for about 2 months. I too find that mebeverine doesn't help. I kept complaining about muscle spasms to my dr and they gave me peppermint oil and later, the hospital gave me cyclizine. A combination of these two sometimes helps me? As pippa58442 said, try a food diary & low fodmap diet.
