3 months post op

It has been 3 months and am still limping and my leg is still weak. Will it get better ?

I'm sure it will but it is frustrating and worrying isn't it? I'm 9 weeks and limping badly today. I wasn't yesterday.

I think there are turning forward points and turning backwards points. Once I could drive again, I did but find it leaves me stiff and hobbling. The same when I went out without a stick for the first time (yesterday). Felt fine at time but as I say limping badly today. Back to stick today.

Do you have days when you are slightly more able than other days?

Maybe some sessions with a Physio or osteopath? Or see your GP for reassurance. I think fear is this is as good as it gets but it won't be, you will improve I'm sure at your pace and in your time

Best wishes

Barbara

I feel better in the mornings, keep sitting in the day making it worse when stand up. It feels like the ball will pop out when try to not limp.

wish you the same

Definitely get stiffness whenever going from sitting to standing. Think that's common. Maybe better in mornings because you've been lying flat.

Think maybe make appointment with GP? Think that's what I would do if I was seriously worried. I'm sure it's all fine but can't be pleasant having the feeling the ball is going to pop out. I've not had that, so been lucky. There may be replies from people that have.

Good luck, keep moving!

I am 10 weeks and was limping badly three weeks ago do I got an exercise bike. Within five days my limp had gone and has stayed gone mostly. You need to strengthen the muscles. However, if you feel there is something wrong with the implant maybe you should check with your GP or consultant?  Good luck with it.

I have a condition bike but I never biked since the op. Are we allowed ?

Not sure about a bike that actually moves (so to speak) but definitely a static one though you have to have the seat fairly high in order to keep to the 90 degree rule. Worked for me

I never had 90 degree rule restriction by my doctor. I can reach my feet and put my socks on myself. that is weird.

Hi poor you! I am just over 8 weeks, still feel bruised and swollen! My consultant said it can take 6 to 12 months, before its back to normal! I am starting hydrotherapy on Monday!! So we will see what happens! I am also a carer for my disabled hubby! Regards Amanda

wish the best for your hubby and you. let us know if you get better after hydrotherapy.

Each consultant has ther own way I suppose. Did you have the posterior approach? Did you never have to stick to the 90degree thing?

Thumbs up to you!! Hydrotherapy the way to go, I'm a year today and still go twice a week keep it up it helps wait till you 1st get in its brilliant

Where do you find out about hydro therapy sessions or is it just as good to go swimming?

Just curious x

Hi Barbara, key into google hydrotherapy pools in your area! Eg yyour post code! Then ask your physio to refer you! Good luck! Hope your doing well? Regards Amanda

I'll try that - thanks Amanda.

I'm doing well. Had a bit of a cold recently and whereas would normally shake off quickly it seems to be lingering. Probably not 100 percent yet.

How are you doing? Xx

I too still find my leg weak and have some limping.  And my evil twin ( new joint) also feels like it wants out.  According to surgeon that is the normal healing process of the muscles.  Most strange though.  My scar is stinging today guess it wants some bio oil or polysporin.  I am now just coming up on 8 weeks.   This is turning out to be a long tedious process but well worth it in the end.  My issuses will not be completely resolved by my RTHR  as I also need LTHR.  That is due to happen later this year or early next year.  Anyway onward and upward.
