This is a 3rd day of my cataract lazer surgary, monofocal best distance like the one i have at the left.
My vision is still blurry, feel like seeing things under water on the right eye. I know i need to give more time to settle.
Yesterday dr said while checking he mentioned there is edema present now,. and he said that he spent a lot of energy to clean up densed cataract and he did spend lot of energy to clean up. Water was pouring down in to my side of my face to my neck and soaked my back of my shirt. I also chased lazer Because of the dance cataract.
He did not say what type of edema. And he will see me again
After the lazer (to brake up the cataract and put the cuts) i waited around 15 minuets to go to the surgary room there another 15 Minuits and the prep continues eye drops. cleanup and thr lense insertation took more than 20 minuets.
( nurse was saying he wa doing another procedure on another person and will be back to my 2end prosediure 
it is a very busy clinic indeed.)
I checked about the edema on line it could happen of leaking capillaries after cataract surgery.
I had densed cataract on the other eye also. I was able to see right away 20/20 right after the surgary 18 months ago.
I am worried this messy liquid may reduce my other clear vision slowly.
I don't want to loose the good vision in the left eye i have now due to this right eye edema.
Reading and typing is not. Like before now. One thing, the letters look like under the water.
Any one have the experience of this edema please share the experience.
Hi Rose - sounds like your rocexure was lengthier than the norm. Did your doctor prescribe drops? Usually patients start an antibiotic drop and steroid or NSAID drop 3 days prior to surgery and you carry on taking them after surgery (in my case another week with antibiotic drop and 2 weeks with steroid drop). This helps prevent edema and reduces swelling.
First surgary was done with another doctor and he gave the drops in advance and i used them period to the surgary and after the surgary. This time i was given a drop to use the same day before their i arrive their office.
I was pricecribed the drops Tobradex 4 times a day and Acuvail twice a day after surgary. I am pre diabetic my pressure is around 140/ 80 that day. My usual blood pressure is around within 130/70.
i see the letters without glass now with the right eye, middle and distance is blurry. With the left eye i cant see letters without glass and middle ground and distance is clear.
I clearly told the doctor no to monovision for me, and he also agreed for best distance for the right eye and the card he gave says + 25 ZCB00 on the right eye, and the left eye already i have +23 ZCB00 also distance.
Why these numbers are slightly different BBC of the eye measurements? I hope it is not monovision,
Now the floating letters are little settling.
Until the swelling goes done and edema gone you likely won’t see that well. Healing will have to take place. Sounds like first doctor more proactive in having you start the drops whereas 2nd doctor didn’t. He or she should have followed same process for 2nd eye and started the drops earlier.
Healinois different for everyone and can take a few weeks.
Thanks Sue.An. I dont see any swelling but the doctor checked in side and said edema. Both doctors are well known and top of the line. Because of the very gray shadow crescent at the corner of the left eye i went to the second doctor. It takes time to heal this time. Thank you very much for the kind reply.
It could be macular edema. There is no swalling or redness around the eye. Thanks
Did doctor specify macular edema? Could also be Corneal Edema which can be a complication of cataract surgery. It causes blurred vision and treated with antibiotic drops and anti inflammatory drops. Don’t believe you can see it yourself. Needs diagnosis from doctor. If that’s what it is once swelling goes down your vision should become clearer.
