3 weeks after injury and still swelling pain

Hi Forum,

its been 3 weeks since I injured my ankle and about 1 week since ORIF surgery. For the most part the pain is manageable. But at night the swelling is very uncomfortable/painful still. How long does this painful swelling last? is it okay that ive been taking advil daily for this?

**HI Big,

Please ask your doctor if you can take Advil. There are many studies on it that it slows healing down quite a bit. Al;ways best to ask before you take something like that.

You have a long haul in front of you but keep yourself resting and elivated.
