I had a full left hip replacement 3 weeks ago. The first two weeks I was amazed by how little pain i was having, however I have become more active recently and I am noticing that my pain level is increasing. Im getting more pain at bedtime and in the early morning hours than before which is alarming because I thought it was supposed to get better not worse. Im hoping its just a result of walking more. The first two weeks i mainly stayed in bed and did excersizes, or light walking around the house. Now I am walking a block or more in a day. The pain is mainly in my groin, and in the back of the hip joint. Any suggestions or advice would greatly be appreciated!
Three weeks is still early , don't rush , rest when your body tells you .
Good luck

Sometimes when you do more weight bearing on the op side t, the hip lets you know when to rest a little while between exercise.
It's normal to have a little more pain this stage of recovery.are you still taking your pain medicine regularly? Sometimes we stop taking pain meds when we fell feel beThen pain creeps up before we know it.until the hip lady's you know I'm hurting.Warm hugs xxx take it easy to push to hard.
Feels like the pain is in the joint, not the muscle...
I was only on pain meds in the hospital. My body doesnt do well with narcotics...
Good morning Chelsea ...oh dear, discouraging isn't it? almost all of us experience sonme kind of a setback duting recovery - you will find out that you are definitely not alone here - and it is normal ... whoopie .... me too, and also in the 3d week - I am 11 weeks post op nad still (sorry to say) have those days ... different muscle groups are making their appearance so to spek as I am moving, exerecising more - darn it !!!! it IS major surgery - have you watched the video on youtube? if you are up to it and not too squeemish, do so ... after I watched it, I understood better what my body went through and also had much more respect for how she is healing, repairing the damage and accepting the foreign objects, growing bone etc - try not to force things .... be gentle with your self - warm hug
Might be worth mentioning to your GP, but am fairly sure it is due to increased activity.
Did you have those pains before the op? They could be muscle and tendon pains. I still get some groin pain and pain in the high quadriceps and am tender in the high buttock area and side. You are walking a lot for 3 weeks I'm at 5 and doing a block a day - about 3/4 mile but had a rest yesterday. I would rest for a bit and see if there is a difference first but if you are worried call the doc. Everyone is different. Good luck.
Hi Chelsea! Welcome aboard to the wonderful world of hippies!! You really need to take it slowly and exercise then rest then exercise and rest! Take your pain meds. Its a major op! Listen to your body! Regards Amanda
