3 weeks post ORIF: Fell off my knee scooter

Hii everyone. I'm 3.5 weeks post ORIF tri-malleolar and was feeling so great that i decided to go for a park walk on my scooter. Typically I would lean the tip of my left knee on the scooter but it started to become stiff and sore so I decided to put my entire left shin on the scooter pad. Be careful!!! Within three steps the scooter toppled over frontwards and I crashed to the ground. I must have applied too much pressure on my knee vs. shin. Anyway, I don't think I've done any damage to the hardware, but my broken ankle is really sore - it feels like I've sprained/strained the muscles (likely impossible in a fibreglass cast), but I think I must have overcompensated when I was falling. Any tips?

Trimalleolar fracture w/ dislocation here. I used the knee scooter for about 2 months and thankfully never fell off. Remember to go slow, especially outside where there are cracks, small pebbles, etc. And go slow around corners or just making a turn. Take a normal step with your good foot, don't try to push hard and coast. That just increases your chance of losing balance and falling. Also, I bought a gel pad cover so I wouldn't end up with knee pain. I loved my scooter. It enabled me to get some of my independence back, return to work, go shopping, etc while I was in a cast and non weight bearing and when I got a boot and slowly learned to start walking again. I watched some videos on YouTube about how to size it correctly and how to operate it without falling over. I broke my ankle learning to skateboard. I may have been overly cautious about using something else with wheels.

oh no, poor you. Battered and bruised. Do you have any appoitments with doctor or physio soon , just to check you haven't done any damage
