hi im 5 weeks post op and still very swollen at knee the back of my knee is solid, have swelling on outside of my right foot had rthr.i have to elevate and ice leg.
but can bend knee but due to swelling am limited to exercise. Was told that swelling can continue for sometime.
Elevate your leg above your heart, stack 3 or 4 bed pillows...I had the same thing and it took about a month for my knee to look normal....
Sounds like tou have the old 'heavy leg' problem - just a matter of waiting for the muscles to repair - more leg moving exercises needed I'm afraid. There is a 'strap' that you can get to aid leg lifting - or a belt or something similar would do.
TEDs - yes, they are a pain, especially with bruising and swelling. I put up with them for 6 weeks on each of my two recoveries ....... my father died of a PE following DVT - so it was important to me. Stockings should not be allowed to dig in and roll over, you should keep straightening them out (difficult, I know).
Other pains and conditions - on my website.

I shall try icing more often . Are you still wearing stockings ? Or sid you ?

Hi khippie
I was told to leave stockings on for 6 weeks, but I took them off about a week and half early. They were so uncomfortable and rolling down and cutting in behind my knee. I just couldn't put up with them any longer x
Hi,
I have exactly the same issue as you with the swelling.
I will be 6 weeks post op on Wednesday but I took my stockings off just after the 4 week Mark. I called the hospital and told them how I was and that they were digging in really badly and they told me I could take them off and continue with my injections, so that's what I've done.
Feels much better without them on, and doesn't feel as swollen.
Hope you get some relief soon.x
Hiya
Yes I feel so much better without them and swelling slightly improved
